No, I'm just saying the registry isn't regarded as a good one. Concerning champions, it actually doesn't mean that much unless it's fairly close, and on both sides. I think most yorkies have champions in their background somewhere. It just means that a certain dog was considered to be an excellent example of the breed. Depending upon who he was bred with, and many breeders will stud their males out to anyone, the resulting offspring may not be good examples as all. Each mating must be planned for bettering the offspring. Most good breeders sell their dogs on a limited registration, meaning that the offspring should not be bred, but is placed as "pet only." On a limited registration, no puppies produced by the dog can be registered with the AKC. However, unethical people, go ahead and breed the dog and register the offspring with the CKC, and to me, this is the same as stealing. Because of this, many breeders are neutering puppies before they leave the premises, but some are worried about the health risks associated with neutering a dog that young.
Truthfully, I don't think champions mean much, unless you're planning on breeding your dog. This is the way breeders can study pedigrees, and the qualities that lie in those lines. I think all dogs are equal, some are better examples of the breed, and some breeders are better than others, and I encourage people to support the better and ethical breeders.
