It broke my heart intoto read this story poor baby! I could not beleive what I was reading, I do hope they get this woman some real help, and they do make sure she can't hurt another baby ever again!! My prayer go out to Bobo, I am so glad he made it. I just cryed and cried bobo

I truely, honestly don't know how anyone could do this to any animal or human in such a manner as Bobo was treated....I just can't imagine why. I guess you can say I was raised in a very sheltered life from the real world due to my dad being a detective and when things like this happens, it just weighs my heart down. I'm sorry, but I don't find having a "mental problem" as an excuse for anyone to do something as horrible as she did. I agree with those who say that God will judge her and I pray he will do it harshly. My prayers are with you Bobo for a successful recovery.

The Yorkshire terrier clinging to life after his owner allegedly burned him died early Thursday.

The shock of the burns apparently damaged his kidneys, pancreas and other internal organs, veterinarian Elisa Mazzaferro said.

"He suffered cardiopulmonary arrest. He didn't suffer; he was comfortable."

Bobo suffered burns over his legs and other parts of his body after his owner allegedly hogtied him and set him on fire over a stove on Sunday. A neighbor saw the fire and alerted Lakewood police.

Relatives of Tanya M. Martin, 38, of Lakewood, say she suffers from mental illness.

Martin was formally charged Thursday with cruelty to animals and fourth-degree arson. She remains in custody at the Jefferson County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.

As recently as Wednesday, the Bobo hotline was sounding optimistic: "Bobo was resting comfortably today, greeting us and interacting with his surroundings," said the message. The message said veterinarians were hopeful that a special skin treatment could hasten Bobo's recovery.

On Wednesday, Mazzaferro brought Bobo into a hyperbaric chamber in Lakewood donated by animal lover Dr. Alex Thermos.

"It was very peaceful in there," Mazzaferro said. "We took a nap together."

But afterward, when surgery was done to remove some of Bobo's dead tissue, "it showed that some of the organs were failing," she said. "The burns we could see were only the tip of the iceberg." The failed organs were "the internal consequences from the external burns."

Mazzaferro said Bobo was given generous doses of pain medicine. Up to the end, "he was alert and responsive and very comfortable. He wasn't suffering."

Coloradans, stirred by the story of the burned dog, had donated more than $23,000 as of Wednesday afternoon for Bobo's care, said Ben Drotar, director of marketing for Table Mountain Animal Center. The average donation was $53.

"We'll more than likely be well over what was required for Bobo's care," Drotar said. The remainder will go into the Westy Fund, a pot of money to help abused animals.

Kudos to the law enforcement agency that arrested her. I have the utmost respect for someone who can hold back their emotions and not blow someone like this away with their duty pistol! This lady better be glad I wasnt the Officer that got her...Id have been like "Gun! She has a gun! Bam Bam!"

Poor Bobo...I feell so bad for Bobo.

I'll tell you what, I am in law enforcment and I thought I had heard and seen almost everything. I have worked animal neglect cases and child abuse before and it is just beyond anything I can comprehend that someone could DO THIS TO THAT POOR LITTLE DOG! I hadn't seen it on the news, because I deal with so much negativity in a 10 hour day and at some point you have to say "ENOUGH". A coworker told me about it and brought me the article and I ABOUT LOST IT RIGHT THERE. It was all I could do to remain professional the rest of the day, trying to keep my composure while people whined and complained about silly stuff they brought on themselves, very unimportant things at that, when compared to precious little BoBo. I was barely out of the exit gate when I totally lost it and cried like a baby, all my frustrations and anger coming out, and all I could hear in my head was him screaming in pain. All the frustration I have felt in the last 18 years about people and what they do to animals (and children, etc, those who really can't protect themselves) just came out in a turbulent tsunami of tears. I cried all the way home. I talked out loud to my australian terrier, Hobbes, my loyal sweet companion of 11 years who crossed to the Rainbow Bridge in March of 2003, and asked him to find BoBo and take care of him. It was all I could think of to do. I asked my Mom, who also passed some time ago, to look after him too.

I just cannot fathom how anyone could think up such twisted cruelty and I cannot think of anyone in the entire history of life that I would like to see suffer in the way she made that little boy suffer. I don't think I have ever been more infuriated in my life over anything like I am this. I don't live far from Lakewood, and I just hope they don't ever let her out. A person like that ought not to be let out in the public ever. I have a lot of questions such as why the heck was she ever allowed to adopt BoBo if she wasn't responsible to care for herself ( she stopped taking her meds). How can you care for a pet if you don't care for yourself! Just because her mother knew she supposedly loved that dog doesn't mean she was mentally able to care for another life!

Sorry, to me, a dogs' life is JUST AS PRECIOUS as any other! Just as precious, if not more, than some of the so-called Humans I know. This kind of stuff makes me want to go get some property the heck away from people and stay isolated. That a person can do some of the things they do to harm others and helpless children and animals, well, it just makes the rest of us sick. And what can we do about it! My biggest fear is that they will let her off, not competent to stand trial for the felony abuse. I know I will never get that picture of that poor little helpless hurting baby out of my mind, all wrapped up in bandages and lying in the sterile environment, in all his pain, enduring that which he didn't deserve, that which NO animal should ever endure, and we who are astonished and angered can do nothing to see that she gets what she deserves.

PLEASE, TO THOSE OF YOU OUT THERE, IF YOU SUSPECT ANIMAL ABUSE OR CRUELTY, DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL YOUR LOCAL AUTHORITIES. PLEASE DON'T HESITATE..IT IS UP TO US TO SPEAK UP! IT'S TIME WE STOOD UP AND DEMANDED THAT CHARGES FOR THESE UNSPEAKABLE CRIMES BE IN LINE WITH THE SAME CRIMES COMMITTED AGAINST HUMANS! A LIFE IS A LIFE WHETHER IT IS FOUR LEGS OR TWO.

GOD BLESS YOU BOBO, SWEET LITTLE TRUSTING SOUL; YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE A PLACE IN MY HEART, THAT IS FOR SURE! AND AS FOR TANYA MARTIN, I HOPE SHE SUFFERS THE CONSEQUENCES.
