| Wow, I'm amazed that anyone would think that someone that chooses to have a pet, then leaves that domesticated animal tied to an abandoned house with no food to starve a slow and painful death is more humanitarian than the one that calls a shelter wherein the animal would be fed and housed with a 50/50 chance of a new owner. Most homes that are foreclosed by banks go for months without one mortgage payment being made, and your telling me that during those months of zero mortgage and free rent that family could not save enough for a $100 pet deposit for a rental? Also many of the foreclosing homes are spec homes, purchased with no down in the hopes of flipping them. I have no idea why they don't post those stats. Oh, I know why, because then we wouldn't be able to blame the 'gov' which is so much easier than taking personal responsibility. There is no excuse for animal cruelty, and that's what this is. |

| The banks have their names. If there were laws inplace that could be enforced a lot of this would not have happened because they would be charged for animal cruelty. It is the fault of the consumer for purchasing out of their means but a lot of these people thought the house would be an investment that in a few years they could sell and make a profit. And in certain areas where the housing market has always been over inflated people did not have a lot of choices for affordable housing. The bottom line is a lot of these people have know for the past 90-120 days that they were being foreclosed on and had time to make arrangements for the animals they had. Never in a million years would I ever leave a poor defenseless animal tied to a tree or locked in a house to fend for themselves. There are always choices; people make numerous choices every single day!

| I so disagree with your post. Not only is what they are doing a CRIME, but it is also a SIN!!!!!!!!!!! They have many other options than to leave the poor animal to starve in a locked house. In this case, I do feel I have the right to judge. On msn today, the newest thing with these mortgage crisis issue is arson. Hmm, could burn down your neighbors house too and maybe kill a few people, but who are we to judge??????????\

| Its a beautiful thing to have an opinion and everyone's is greatly appreciated... thank you Though, I think some of my words might have been taken differently than I intended...but thats okay Agree to disagree... Right You have some people who will be homeless, rather than to leave their pet... But, you also have people that will leave their pet, rather than to be homeless........And in both of the cases, its a matter of priority.... And as we know, everyone's priorities are different

| In your two choices of what people decide to do, you forgot the one that this pet owner made: To leave his loyal pet tied up inside an abandoned destroyed house to suffer a slow and painful death of starvation. |

| Donating YT 7000 Club Member | That article made me sick. Foreclosure is NOT an excuse to abandon your animals and leave them inside to starve. Foreclosure is the reason we had to move and rehome our pets. My God, the thought of leaving them there would have never even crossed my mind. I don't know how someone could do that. and its not like foreclosure comes up on you like "wham!" we knew for almost a year that we'd be losing our house. and even if the bank doesn't tell you a year in advance, the person knows if they're paying their bills or not. Obviously if they're not paying their bills, they're going to lose their house. I don't have a problem with people rehoming pets because of a situation like that. What I have a problem with is people who leave pets behind like a piece of crap and don't even attempt to find them a good home.

| Is there a way to contact owners who are about to lose their houses and inquire if they have pets they would like to put in rescue? It seems like there are tons of rescue groups who would be willing to foster until the owners get back on their feet. |

| I don't know what to think of this.....I don't think that they real issue hwere was the foreclosure of their home.....I mean, I have known people in dire straits that have kept their dog. Was this a purebred dog, if so, I am sure the people paid for him and if they were in such distress, they could have sold it (sad to say, but that is better than what they did). I mean really! I just don't understand some people!

| I happen to work for a Mortgage company & after reading it here, I found this article online & passed it on to my boss (who is an animal lover) She sent it to everyone she knew. They were all shocked to read about this! We are trying to figure out a way to get the Banks to send someone out to a property right away to check a property for abandoned pets. The problem is a lot of these homes are being trashed and garbage left behind. They also need animal control to go with them, in case the animal poses a threat to the person inspecting the property and there is just not enough staff or money to hire more people at this time. This tragedy is coming to the attention of the Banks, it will take time (??) and hopefully they will come up with a better solution very soon! Also, in my opinion the mentality of the people that would do such a cruel thing, is that they just don't care about anyone or anthing but themselves anyway. The pet is not a loved part of the family, just an object to be discarded when no longer wanted and sadly they don't really ever have another thought about it!

| I'm sickened by these people! Do we forclose on our loved ones? I can't bare the thought that people are so abusive to these animals! Where are the Laws regarding animal cruelty? Can these people be convicted? How can we the people STOP this? I can't take it anymore! I love my boys....I couldn't imagine life without them! Pacino & DeNiro's mommy |

I share YOUR view, people need to do research, too many are falling for the nothing down, flexible rates, etc. IF it sounds too good to be TRUE, it IS. I would not leave my children behind, if fallen on hard times, our pets are the next best thing to children. Rather I would seek family or friends to take them in until I were back on my feet. Leaving a dog locked up in an empty house is nuts? how would it survive? you wouldn't do that with a human? to think someone else may come along and rescue the dog? cmon, the dog has a better chance of surviving on the streets than left in a house alone. No matter how you dice it, slice it, reason it, this animal abandonement is CRUEL, CRUEL, CRUEL. The person should be fined or jailed just like when a child is abandoned on the streets or garbage.
