| Bailey had double canines. We had them pulled. The vet only gave her enough anaethesia to put her under for a very short time. She did great. She was her old self by the time I picked her up later in the day.

| For Irvin927 and Rustys Mom I use generic beefhide chew sticks from WalMart. Real beefhide, not the ones that look like particle board! There is very little choice where I live. They sometimes have green chewies that contain chlorophyll, a good breath freshener. Rusty's Mom - Have you tried "brushing" with a washcloth? Or one of those brushes that fits on the end of your finger? Or using meat flavored toothpaste? I used a human kiddie brush with Samson and no paste. Once the gunk was out, his breath was fine. |

| Going by what i went through with Max and his double teeth,it wont hurt to give them some time to fall out on their own.The vet told me to wait til Max is older then 1yr,if they have not fell out on their own i would need to have them pulled. To my relief they did fall out on their own when he was about 14mos old,so i suggest using a little patience

| Teddi has 2 sets. I heard you should have them pulled when you get them fixed but when she was fixed she didn't have any of them yet. She will be a year this month and the doctor suggested we wait until she is a year to put her under again. She has bad breath too! I hear that it will greatly improve once I get the other teeth out. I am just not looking forward to the cost! I called the vet to ask prices and it was like $200 for putting them under and $75 for meds and then so much for each tooth and different teeth cost different amounts (bigger teeth cost more - I guess bigger roots). I'm figuring it will cost about $400 or so and I don't see that it is covered by her insurance!

| Double teeth trap food and it ROTS! That's what you smell. Just brush with a doggie or baby toothbrush. Once you get the gunk out, your babe will be kissing sweet. Keep her supplied with rawhide chew sticks to help the extras fall out. My Samson was well over a year old before the last baby teeth fell out on their own. Good luck. |

| Therapy Dog Donating Member | Well we went to our vet yesterday for him to look at Izzy's teeth - she is 9 mos. old this week and yikes poor baby...he thinks she might have between 7 to 12 baby teeth that would have to come out. She is going in next Friday so I'll keep you guys posted. He does not have to completely put her under like she was for spaying - just enough to get these teeth out. I also asked him if we should wait until after she is a year old to see if they would come out on their own but he told me that if she only had one or two he would let me go until then and see if they came out naturally but with so, so many he told me that they must be hurting her and felt it necessary to take them out. Poor Izzy I was hoping to not put her under twice but looks like we have to. ![]() Oh and he weighed her again and she only gained like 2 ounces so now she is a whopping 2 pounds 7 ounces.

| It sounds like all of us with the double teeth have dogs that are under 3 lbs. Maybe it's something with them being so small. I will be going next week for my consultation. I would love to hear how much it costs when Izzy gets them out just so I have an idea. I feel like it's going to be a lot of money. But what can you do...it has to be done.
