| Gentle Paw Chewing? Why is she doing it? Corabel has started chewing her front paws. She's 4 years old and this started about 3 weeks ago while we were camping. We eventually discovered she had a tiny bit of tree pitch between her toes. Even after it was removed and we came home, she still does it a couple times a day. It is very gentle, almost 'mouthing' rather than chewing. She only does it to her 2 front paws and will stop when told to. She's had a bath since we came home and doesn't seem to be scratching anywhere. I thought her nails might be too long so had them clipped at Daycare last week. I haven't made any food changes lately. If it was an allergy, wouldn't I see some other signs or wouldn't she be going at it more vigorously? Doesn't seem to be a particular time of day or a certain circumstance. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,

| Sounds like she is just continuing with a habit she started with the tree pitch gettng stuck............I would just keep correcting her and she will give it up and maybe correct her and give her something else to chew on or a treat for stopping. Sort of like a reward. Just a suggestion. Toby chews alittle as well and nothing there that is bothering him but I just keep correcting him and distracting him from the chewing.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Could be allergies, but you're right, one would think you'd see itching/scratching and/or watery eyes. Maybe give her a chewy thing whenever she starts to chew?

| Good idea. I did notice that it had subsided yesterday. I think I saw her doing it only once.
