Default Gentle Paw Chewing? Why is she doing it?

Corabel has started chewing her front paws. She's 4 years old and this started about 3 weeks ago while we were camping. We eventually discovered she had a tiny bit of tree pitch between her toes. Even after it was removed and we came home, she still does it a couple times a day. It is very gentle, almost 'mouthing' rather than chewing. She only does it to her 2 front paws and will stop when told to.

She's had a bath since we came home and doesn't seem to be scratching anywhere. I thought her nails might be too long so had them clipped at Daycare last week. I haven't made any food changes lately. If it was an allergy, wouldn't I see some other signs or wouldn't she be going at it more vigorously?

Doesn't seem to be a particular time of day or a certain circumstance. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
