| Chicken Jerky Recalled Dog Dies! latest pet news at: http://www.itchmo.com For the full story, go to: http://www.itchmo.com/wal-mart-removes-bestro-chicken-jerky-strips-after-dog-death-2321 A Philadelphia woman says her dog died after eating tainted dog food treats bought from Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has quietly pulled the made in China dog treat from its stores. There has been no announcement to the public as of yet. It is also uncertain of how many tainted bags of treats there may still be out among consumers. Kate Collins said it is hard to talk about. Bella, her two-year-old Chihuahua, died suddenly in July after eating Bestro Chicken Jerky Strips. Collins said that Bella died within a week after eating the treats. The other dogs did not receive the same treats and are unaffected. Bellas owner had the animal hospital do an autopsy and they found that Bella died of an infection caused by toxic bacteria. My furkids Donating Member | This is why I don't EVER buy the girls treats anywhere other than a pet store (NO pets sold in the stores where I buy from) I'm not saying that you couldn't get tainted food from speciality pet stores but, it's more unlikely. The store where I buy from has all the top brands that the company manafactures themselves....Merrick, Canidae, chicken soup etc....I know the owner of the store. She makes all the treats right there in the store so you know exactly whats in them. I feel really bad this happened to that poor little baby. I also know someone that lost their dashchaund from food bought at Wal-Mart.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | This is just terrible. I only give mine their California Natural hard and soft food and milk bones. They love to have chewies but I am too afraid for many reasons. The owner of the specialty pet store where I get their premium dog food from told me when I asked her what chews were safe for my size dogs and she said none. Ans she sell all these. Breny I hope your babies are all ok.

| How devestating for the owners. Please do not buy ANYTHING from China in the way of food. I watched a news report on CNN stating that China does not care what they put in their dog and cat food or human food for that matter. Not all food items can be tested when they are imported into the USA. It is getting worse and worse. They are actually thinking of asking everyone to Ban China in hopes that will make them wake up and smell the coffee so to speak. If it's not made in the USA and fit for human comsumption it does not go into Bud's mouth. It just is not worth it. |

| I was at Wal Mart last week and bought that very bag, or at least tried to, when the cashier ran it across the scanner it wouldn't ring up , it just said "do not sell" she tried two more times and got the same prompt...then she tells me it has been recalled for salmonella......I got goose bumps and stared at her...all I could think of was if that d*mn register had not stopped the sale I would have taken them home and fed them to my pets ....my heart started racing.... then I told her I just picked those up back there on the shelf, and they came out of a large box that appears to have just been opened, all I could think of was who else tried to buy them and the sale went through....

No Longer a Member | This is becoming a really big problem. It is not just dog food/treats too. Some toys imported from China were found to have lead paint. This is going to be a major problem because in the US, we rely on Chinese imports a lot! But something is going to have to be done to make sure that the products that come in are being inspected for safety! |

| What had me maddest was they where aware of the recall and they still stocked it on the shelf!!...that was a new opened box put out....I will never give them anything made in Chine again...I also had a bag of chicken strips in the cupboard bought the prior week from Pet Supplies Plus that they ended up not liking, that's why I was getting another brand from Wal Mart, when I got home I checked and that one was made in China also, it went in the trash...
