| in heat question mocha is almost a year old (turns 1 on the 23rd) and she has not had her first heat yet. is this abnormal? i've heard many get their first heat around 6 months, but she shows no symptoms, unless i've missed it. she's been licking down there and marked, but i haven't seen any blood anywhere nor is she swollen. she has the same energy that she's had since she was 3 months old. i'm a little bit terrified and confused as i thought she should have had it by now. any suggestions or advice? thanks.

| Ok I'll try, though I'm no expert. When I got Kalina from the breeder she said to me not to have her spayed until she's a year old because the bigger she is the safer it is. She said that none of her females had their first heat until over a year - about 14 mos. That's all the help I can give you. I'll be wondering the same thing soon myself.

| Our little Lola didn't go into heat until she was 14 months. The doctor said it was fairly normal for small dogs...( she is 2.7 pounds at 18 months). So try not to worry yourself!
