| Thoughts on Innova EVO dogfood anyone? I have used this food for about 4mos. I am very pleased with it. EVO doesn't have a "puppy" food, but the protein content is alittle over 40%. I am wondering if I should start my puppies on that, or start them on the regular Innova puppy food. They won't be starting solid food for another week.

| It's funny you ask b/c I was feeding her Artemis small breed. The food is very small. And for some reason, after about a year of feeding her that food, she started throwing it up whole. Maybe it was stale or something, I'm not sure. So, instead of taking the chance with that again, I ordered a small bag of regular Innova to see if she liked it, and she LOVES it. I can't even free freed b/c every time I put it down, she eats it all!

| Good post, BabyFidgette!! Obviously if they're getting lower quality protein which is what is in most dog foods, it's going to be hard on the livers and kidneys. That's why most people recommend to stay under the 28% mark...

In all fariness, my dog probably is much more active than the other yorkies on this forum that spend a lot of time on people's laps. So I may be a bit more biased. But wouldn't it be more accurate, per the article that you linked, to say that higher levels or protein is not harmful for healthy yorkies? Please note that in the thread that I've started, I've linked several other articles and webpages, of which, the article that you linked in one of them. Feel free to read through ALL of them as rebuttal. | |

And for your info, I only feed my dog TOP quality food within the recommended guidelines. And believe me, my dog has lots of energy! Some would think too much. 'So put the baby on her her stomach when she sleeps. No wait, she might suffocate! Then put her on her back! O crap, she might vomit in her mouth. Well, guess only the side is left.' So whatever studies/articles you've read as the 'catch of the day', you will make your own decision as to what you want to feed. I will not feed Innova Evo as I've heard contradicting things about it and I'd rather play it safe with my dog's health, not chance it because it "may" not harm her.
