First heat 5 months??

Zoey turns 5 months tomorrow. She is prob. about 3.5lbs. She has started going back to the pee pad to smell her own urine. She also licks "herself" in an urgent way sometimes, like she has an itch. Is it possible she is coming into heat at just 5 mo? I dont see any swelling yet. We plan on spaying but cant until she is at least 6 mo. She has been humping her poor baby bunny to death too.

Our avery is about 3lbs and 4months.. she is definatley teething-we know that. but i was also curious what age they go into heat?? She too has been licking herself more often(but could just be what they do naturally to clean themselves??) also-we have a lil doggy toy that is her size and she too has been humping it!! i tell her to stop though-cuz it creeps me out!! (i have heard that this is a dominance thing-and it doesnt always mean what we think it does-but i dont know)-haha.

I think our avery and your zoey are right about the same growth-wise etc. How much did she weigh when you got her?? do you know the weight of her parents?? zoey's a cutie. <3

They COULD be going into heat...it seems a little early, but I think it can happen. Especially in toy dogs-they sexually mature faster than other dogs. You might give your vet a call-she could have a yeast infection that would cause the excessive licking "down there". Emma had one as a puppy-I think about that age-and it was due to lack of hormones. All the vet instructed me to do was to wipe her "hoo hoo" each time after she peed, and it cleared up on it own. After she got a little older, she got her hormones as usual, and we haven't had a problem since.
