| my poor tykie hurt his leg =( Ok...so Bubba today decided he wanted to get Tyke...Tyke will usually jump on top of this couch we have (Bubba won't jump on it) and stay up there because I guess he knows Bubba can't reach it. Anyway...Bubba was chasing Tyke so Tyke tried to jump on the couch...he missed it and somehow landed on his back two legs...and really hurt the one back leg. He started to squeal like I had NEVER heard him squeal before...and was crying for a while. He then tried to walk...and he could put no weight whatsoever on his back left leg He hobbled around on three legs. His one leg he hurt seems to be bent...like he can't straighten it out. I immediately burst into tears because I had no clue what was going on. I jumped up and called the vet...luckily I had caught them just as they were leaving and I have an appointment to take Tyke in at 2 (I just had Bubba in today for his puppy wellness checkup) to see what can be done. The lady that answered the phone told me that it sounds like he might've dislocated his leg and that all small breeds have that problem...but I don't know if she was telling that to calm me down (I was a WRECK!) or if it's the truth. I feel terrible now because we had to keep Bubba in his little crate (luckily he likes it) because he kept trying to go after Tyke and Tyke is hurt...so I put Bubba in his crate with a bunch of toys to keep him busy and he was fine...but I HATE having to keep in his crate like that! As for Tyke...right now we're trying to carry him everywhere but he whines whenever we pick him up, hold him wrong...he tried to lay down and he cried...it's tearing me apart. Is there anything we can do for him to make him comfortable until he goes to the vet? Can I have him childrens' tylenol or anything? It's terrible. I hate seeing my little boy like this I know it seems like I'm always posting here (tyke and bubba not getting along, bubba getting sick)...I'm just so scared and completely beside myself right now worried about my Tykie Sorry for yet another post :-( Melissa |

| How is he today? I hope all is well. Yesterday Maggie learned how to jump up on the couch. She could already jump off. Now I will worry twice as much.

| Scooter did the same thing trying to keep up with the big dogs when we first got him. The vet said he just bruised his leg and that he would be fine. How is your baby today? Be sure and update us as soon as you can.

| How is your little guy doing today? Hopefully MUCH better! My little Tiah had to get a splint when she was a puppy. Her pain didn't last long and she had a very quick recovery....I am hoping the same for yours! |

| He goes in today at 2:20. He's still not walking on his back leg :-( I brought him to my mom in bed and she held him for a long time massaging his back leg and he didn't show any sign of pain when she did that. I was told that a lot of the smaller breeds have their knees pop out of place and a lot of times they can go back in...I am hoping the vet can do something about it. I was a big baby yesterday and bawling my eyes out It's hard keeping Bubba away from him...he constantly wants to play with him! I'll let ya'll know what happens Melissa

| Well we took him to the vet and it wasn't so hgood. The vet said it usually heals within 24 hours but becasue Tyke's little leg was shaking so bad it could mean something else. We had to leave him there a couple hours (pick him up at 4:20EST) because they had to sedate him to get exrays. I was crying the whole way home My poor doggie :-( Melissa

| My poor Kipper went through the same thing 2 months ago and had to have surgery to fix his knee! He was only 9mos old when it happened, jumped off the couch and landed the wrong way and popped his knee cap out! I took him to the vet immediately because I thought he broke it but they said his knee cap "socket" was not deep enough and the knee cap kept falling out so he couldn't walk at all on his hind leg! It was soooo sad. But my vet is the best and $1000 later Kipper is healing just fine!! He was in a big cast for 2 weeks...it was bigger then he was! But thank goodness he's ok now! I was so worried!!
