| ![]() I decided to call up the companies on the Premium foods sticky and ask for samples. And now I've got tons of samples here. Artemis sent me a whole box!!!! So.....now that I've got the samples, how exactly do I go about trying them out without upsetting Wickett's current diet? He was on Eukanuba, which he wasn't eating, so I switched him to Nutro Ultra (the best I could find at Petsmart). I'm just not sure how to tell what he really really likes or what he eats because he thinks it's a treat. Any ideas? How have you guys gone through the food search process? |

| ![]() Hmm......if I do that I'd have to mark all the bowls because I've got lots of samples! His reaction to a whole set of bowls of dog food should be really funny. |

| ![]() Loki had a sensitive stomach as a puppy. I added just a few pieces to his food or fed them as treats. If he didn't get sick, then I gave him a little more. We ended up with Canidae ![]()

| ![]() My yorkies are very picky so when I got lots of samples of premium foods, I put them all out (and marked them) and the one they went to and seemed to love is the one I chose. |

| ![]() I think I would put them all out in different (labeled) bowls as well. What in the world did you say to Artemis to get them to send you a whole box? lol ![]()

What I did last night was.....after Wickett had dinner, I poured a bit of one of the samples in his bowl. Since he wasn't hungry, I figured he'd only eat the food if it really appealed to him. I tried Fromm's Duck and Sweet Potato and Wickett went nuts! He licked the bowl clean and looked around for more. I think that one was a yes. SO I'm going to try and do this with all the different samples and see which ones he really likes. And then when it's down to a manageable amount I'll put out different bowls. Because if I did that now I'd probably need like 20 bowls! So far all the companies have sent samples of their puppy foods, but they've all got several different ones so.....that's a lot!

| ![]() Samples are good! Update on the whole food situation......I had switched Wickett from Eukanuba to Nutro Ultra (it looked the best out of all the junk at PetSmart) until we found a good premium food for him. After feeding him the Fromm's Duck and Sweet Potato last night, when I tried giving him Nutro for breakfast he totally turned his nose up at it. Refused to even smell it. Nice, huh? So I decided to give him Artemis, since I've got a whole box. I put that bowl right next to the Nutro bowl, and he inhaled the Artemis and totally ignored the Nutro. I've decided to give him Artemis instead of Nutro since I've got so many samples, and then try out the other samples at dinner (after he's eaten some Artemis). Does that sound like a good idea? I don't want to make him sick from eating so many different dog foods, but once he got a taste of the good stuff he didn't have any interest in his food. I have to say, Artemis does smell way better than the Nutro.....I'm not daring enough to actually try and eat it though. |

I'm thinking.....if he likes both Artemis and the Fromm's, perhaps I could feed him a mixture of both? or one for breakfast and the other for dinner? would that be tough on his stomach? It looks like he enjoys the variety.
