weewee spotting while walking

I know that weewee spotting when a dog is out doors is a social habit for them. In that it is there way of letting other dogs know they were there. But how much is enough if any and how much is to much. When I take my 2 for what would be a 15 to 20 min walk it turns into 45 min to an hour from all the sniffing and spotting.

Does anyone else experience this to that extent or I am I just allowing them to much freedom in that area. I don't want to impede their doghood

Take treats with you and teach them to watch you and walk beside you for a treat.

Honestly, Loki knows how to "loose leash walk" but I just let him sniff. With 2 of them, we do stop in every yard, but I find they are just as worn out at the end from all the sniffing. It's more fun for them.

BUT you could easily teach a "walk nice" command. I think after they are obviously empty it is fine to cut back on the sniffing and peeing in every yard!

haha! I've been wondering the same for a while.. We just recently (a few months) have been taking Daisy for walks in the neighborhood and we just about have to stop at every other house for her to fulfill her ''sniff cravings''.

I like the treat idea because it can get annoying if we can't just go from Point A to Point B with having to say hello to everyone and every dog in between AND sniffing every tree.

I'd love for her to learn just to walk a straight line..

Charlie could walk and sniff for hours. However, I give him a 20 minute walk in the morning to the same location (near a park). I remind him it is time to go potty, and he is pretty routine. Personally, I don't have unlimited time in the morning, evening is more relaxed.
