| heat ??? how long do the females bleed when they are in heat? i thought she started today cause it was bright red this morning but now is that old brownish color. BTW this is Troy's first heat. and also is it strange that Walker is not really interested in her? she has free run and he is in the xpen. but he doesn't seem to really care that she is in heat.

| A heat usually lasts about 3 weeks. They usually bleed the first week (although some don't bleed at all or bleed very little). The second week is when they are receptive to being bred. The last week is when they are going out of heat but usually aren't receptive to being bred anymore. Every male is different. Yours may not show interest in her until that second week when she is in "standing heat" - meaning she will stand to be bred. Be especially careful to keep them separated during that second week and even the third, especially since this is only her first heat.
