| I just want to add that I just switched Kirby and Bernie to Canidae (they were eating Pinnacle) and they BOTH love it. It's a quality food that seems extremely palatable...on their taste buds and on my wallet

| After seeing all these good reviews of Canidae, I might try switching to that from Royal Canin...

| Gracie loves Artemis for Small Breed Adults. It's a 5-star rated dry food and has the smallest kibbles I've ever seen. It was recommended by the vet for it's high protein content. The first 2 ingredients are chicken and turkey, then chicken meal and turkey meal. It also has salmon in it, as well as brown rice, oatmeal, and lots of fruits and veggies. |

| When I got my lil furbaby she was on the Eukanuba Puppy food...So I kept her on it.... I haven't seen anything mentioned here about it. Being a new first time Yorkie mom any help on what would be the best to feed my lil one would be greatly appreciated.

| Nodak, I feel my boys NutroMax minichunk. They LOVE it! Ive tried other foods and they were raised by the breeder on Eukanuba, but they love Nutro way more. Its about $20 for a 17lb bag. That lasts them both about 4 months! I do not recommend getting that big a bag for one baby, since it will be stale and yucky by the time you finish it. The little 5lb bag is about $7 and it last my 2 boys a month. So it should last your one baby about 2 months. I get it at Petsmart.

| Ellie used to gets Science Diet. Then all the recalls started and I found Yorkie Talk. I looked into the ingredients. Well, Ellie won't be getting that again. We tried switching to Canidae but I was just too nervous about the recalls so now she gets homecooked.

| Like you I am a first time puppy owner, and here i have learned a lot. We've gone from Eukanuba small breed puppy dry kibble, to Royal Canin small breed puppy kibble and now we're using Canidae. Each switch was an upgrade in food quality, and surprisingly, I found that the Canidae was the least expensive bag! In Canada I paid $18 for the Eukanuba, about $14 for the RC and about $10 for Canidae. Therefore I became a believer that higher priced products aren't always the best quality ones I also think it is never too late to switch foods (I didn't finish reading the rest of the posts following the one I quoted), so long as you are switching to a good quality food and doing it gradually over the course of at least 1 week (imo). Yorkies have sensitive tummies!

| YT 2000 Club Member | Wow have I learnt a lot about dog food! I luckily live by a central feed store that caries numerous food that is mentioned here. I was doing a search for food before I get my puppy, I heard about the recall and was wondering what foods were safe to get. I was interested in the people who home cook for their dogs here. Where can I find this information? |
