Like you I am a first time puppy owner, and here i have learned a lot. We've gone from Eukanuba small breed puppy dry kibble, to Royal Canin small breed puppy kibble and now we're using Canidae. Each switch was an upgrade in food quality, and surprisingly, I found that the Canidae was the least expensive bag! In Canada I paid $18 for the Eukanuba, about $14 for the RC and about $10 for Canidae. Therefore I became a believer that higher priced products aren't always the best quality ones
I also think it is never too late to switch foods (I didn't finish reading the rest of the posts following the one I quoted), so long as you are switching to a good quality food and doing it gradually over the course of at least 1 week (imo). Yorkies have sensitive tummies!
