| Look him over really well. If he does have fleas, usually you can see a flea scurrying around somewhere if you look him over hard enough. Flip him over on his back and take a good look at his belly area. Is he on any type of flea preventative??? When you flip him over on his back, what does his skin on his belly look like? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Thanks, I will check tonight. I saw his belly over the weekend and didn't notice anything, but I need to look closer. I don't have him on any preventative bc he's only 6 mths old and 2 pounds - do you think I should? I'm not sure if fleas are all that common here in Arizona - or are they everywhere?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It is liquid - so I think I'll give him a 1/2 tsp. to start and see how it goes.

| my dee dee is 6lbs and 1/4 tab of 25mg was what internal medicine doctor recommended and yours is 2lbs - i would check with vet on that. I prefer pill as easier to pill than liquid for mine. The dermatologist said if u cut the dog in half if the back half is itchy say biting bottom and back legs etc usually flea allergy- if front half food allergy and if all over usually atopic dermatitis - dogs can have all 3 if highly allergic which mine has so u have to do flea protection, hypoallergenic diet and bath weekly in antiseptic and anti bacterial soap, etc The reason for allergies is due to a poor immune system and since yorkies are popular a lot of inbreeding is done so this creates a poor immune system causing allergies. Allergies occur in dogs from 6months to 3 years - this is horrible as i have been dealing with it for 2.5 years now and i do not wish it on anyone. I use pure aloe vera on her skin and she sees a dermatologist as they specialize in skin and allergies and most vets are not as knowledgeable as the dermatologists This is what i have learned since i have done holistic, dermatology and regular vet so hopefully it helps |
