Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | How Much Is A Meal? Just wondering what you thought....For a approx 1.5 lbs 9 week old yorkie pup who needs to eat every 3-4 hours due to hypoglycemia, how much eating would constitute a meal to you?? a Teaspoon? Tablespoon? 6-7 kibbles? (is kibbles a word?? sounds funny) I give nutrical too so I am just curious if I am trying to over feed cuz Im so scared he will have a sugar drop. I find myself with food in his face constantly cuz he only ate 7 kibble an hour ago, but maybe that 7 kibble is plenty. Just want to hear what ya think. Thanks all! Hope ur all having a good day! __________________

| The rough estimation I have always used for a puppy is 2 tablespoons of food per day for every 1 pound that the dog weighs. This is a rough estimate because it could vary by the type of food you are using, calorie content, etc.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My Marcel is 21 weeks and 1lb. 8oz. - he eats 1.5 - 2T in the a.m., 4pm, 7pm and 1T before bed. He eats all of it and digests what he doesn't need. I got him from the breeder at 1lb. 4oz. - and he started gaining weight when I took him off kibble and started feeding him as above. I don't really think puppies are prone to "overeat" - I think, like young kids, they eat until they feel they're done. I would suggest using some guidelines but look to your pup for messages too - does he still seem hungry, does he never leave food on the plate, does he graze his kibble when you're gone, is he gaining weight okay.....you get the picture.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Im not so worried he's eating too much it's more he's not eating enough. I mean maybe he is and Im just paranoid thats why I just wanted a feel for how much everyone else fed their pups. The kibble he is on is Nutro puppy. After researching Hypoglycemia, and getting some opinions, I am planning on switching him to Innova Evo. I get scared he is burning it all off (he is VERY playful) and when his sugar dropped the one time from exhaustion (played too hard too long) he seied 7 times before I got him to the vet to find out it was hypoglycemia. Vet said it is essential he eat frequently. It's so hard judging what is "enuff" He hasn't had a seizure since I found out what it was so I suppose I am doing right. Id guess he eats 2-3 tablespoons a day total. With a dab of Nutrical here and there. Sound about right???
