| Need answers ASAP! What would you do..... ......if your yorkie got into another dog's food and chowed down and their tummy is big and hard now? This DID NOT happen to Hootie or Hobbs, but it happened to my friend who is babysitting her mom's yorkie and she is freaking out. What would you do? I told her not to worry about it unless he starts vomiting or having bad diarrhea. But I don't wnat to give her bad advice. He's drinking water and acting normal and has taken a poop since the incident and is a little smaller but still really full. What do you think? |

| I agree with your assessment, watch and wait - but keep a close eye for odd behavior or signs of distress

| I have found out that maggie will sometimes not eat her food and we go to my brothers house and she will eat sassys food (same thing) until she is ready to pop. So maybe the little one liked the idea of it being someone else's and maybe something different and just over ate.

| Linda, it's SO funny that you say that, because Hootie and Hobbs do that, too! I think they eat all of my sister's yorkie's food so her yorkie can't have any. hehe Thanks for the responses everyone! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Just saw this...my sons little Mikey used to do that at my house and usually was ok but you're smart to be keeping an eye on the tummy - I hope the little piggy is going to be ok !! |

| I read on here about a dog getting into another dogs food & eating a large quantity ... the dog died of a condition called "Bloat" ....I had never heard of this condition but it is a real danger...I hope it's not that...

I hope it's not that!! my little guy is so picky, i don't know if it's possible for him to overeat. i just think they like something different from what they normally have. when we switched foods he gobbled more that I have ever seen him eat! I hope everything's okay withyour pup! let us know how he is!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | bloat is a serious condition that can kill a dog in mere hours. Its more common in larger breeds and happens when a dog eats and then does physical activity. this produces gas buildup in the abdomen that the dog cannot expel from either end. the dog will start acting very uncomfortable and start salivating. he will try to pass stool and cannot. the stomach will become very large and full of air. i do not think your friends yorkie has bloat since you said he was acting normal. you'll notice signs of bloat soon after it occurs and immediate vet attention is needed.

| I had never heard of this condition either until I got a lab. People who own labs have to really monitor their dog's food intake. Bloat is is very likely if they eat too much at a time. I didn't think yorkies could get bloat though. Good to know! |
