bloat is a serious condition that can kill a dog in mere hours. Its more common in larger breeds and happens when a dog eats and then does physical activity. this produces gas buildup in the abdomen that the dog cannot expel from either end. the dog will start acting very uncomfortable and start salivating. he will try to pass stool and cannot. the stomach will become very large and full of air.

i do not think your friends yorkie has bloat since you said he was acting normal. you'll notice signs of bloat soon after it occurs and immediate vet attention is needed.
