				   | How would i go about getting a pee sample from maddie. I think she might have a bladder infection. She pees way too much and only like a nickel size. I saw her squat in the garage to pee today and there wasn't even a puddle at all. My oldest male shihtzu is a marker and I had his pee tested one time. They gave me a little tray to get it in. I put a hole on each side and tied it around him with yarn. As soon as he lifted his leg outside, i took it off of him. I really don't think that would work with maddie. Any suggestions. I would hate for the vet to have to do a cathador (don't know how to spell it). She just peed outside and came in and peed a little more. She normally pees every 2 hours, which I think is too much also, it just seems to be alot more lately. She was 2 in January and weights about 6.5 lbs, shouldn't she be able to hold it for atleast 4 hours. Thanks for any advice Joan |

				   | This might sound dumb, but when i have bladder problems I drink cranberry juice. Is cranberry juice bad for dogs? |

				   | Wow, I'm not sure! Good luck! I wouldn't do the cranberry juice, though, all that stuff has WAY too much added sugar. I suppose you could get No Sugar Added, but I'd still be too scared.

				   | I wouldn't do that right now because you don't know if she has stones/crystals along with that UTI, and if she does...depending on what kind of stone/crystals, cranberry juice might be good or might be bad. There is something for dogs called Berry Balance by Solid Gold that is supposed to help with keeping the urinary tract healthy that is kind of like cranberry juice, but if your dog has stones/crystals of the wrong kind, this can make the condition worse.

				   | joanmcl, here is the link for the Berry Balance...You can email the company and they will give you all the details on this product. It's for overall urinary health and for keeping the urine at the right ph balance It might be helpful for your furbaby. Ask the vet. Oh, and good luck getting that urine sample. I'm usually not successful and have to have the vet do it, but I hope you're able to get it ![]() http://solidgoldhealth.com/products/...id=25&code=509

				   | Our German shepard had a "uti" when she was a puppy and I had to take in several urine samples. What I did was when she wanted/needed to go out, I put her on a leash and walked her in in the back yard. When she squatted to go, (I had a old "pie pan" in hand) I put the pan down real quick and she went in the pan. She always stopped real quick because of the noise it made (lol) but it was always enough to take in. Now I know a german sheppard pup is a lot bigger than our full grown babies, but you should be able to do it. Good Luck. |

				   | You can get a wee wee pad and place it upside down on the ground (plastic side up..make sure its clean)...after shes "goes" on it, you can easily pour it from the wee wee pad into whatever...ziplock, plastic container, etc...

				   | ooh, i really like the wee wee pad idea. I would have never thought of that. She has never been on one before, but it's worth a try. Oh, and thanks for the website, I will definitely check it out. Joan |

				   | I use a big spoon with long handle. Take them outside and follow. When they go to squat then slip the spoon under them. Have a Zip-Loc handy to pour it in. |

				   | I have had to do this many times with mine and I found the best way is to baby gate her in the kthcen where there is tile an/her d have her pee on the tile and use an eyedropper to suck it up and put it into the jar etc. Also-if your pup is chewing on rawhide, you might want to have him or her stop-too much salt not good for them. Mine had had multiple uti's with crystals and were threatening surgery. I stopped the rawhides (Bullysticks), started giving her disilled water and per her vet 50 mg of Vitman C daily and so far so good. Hope this helps and good luck!

				   | I had to get a pee sample for my dog (she was eating the pet food that was recalled) and the vet told me to turn her pad backwards. If its backwards it will not soak up her pee. Then all you have to do is fold it and put the pee in the cup. FYI- her results came back all negative! |
