| ![]() The gingerbread recipe is here: Pet food recipes | ajc.com I leave out the cloves and Ellie eats them without the honey. The banana muffin one, I did use a recipe for but changed so many things. Most recipes with dog healthy ingredients would work.

Banana Carrot Muffin Dog Treats Will Make Your Dog Happy I did vary from the recipe quite a bit though. I would NOT use the nutmeg. I used all qhite flour because that's what we have on hand. I replaced the carrot with mashed apple... Because I did change up the recipe, the muffins smelled so good but they were a wet and chewy texture in the middle. I thought they were too wet to leave at room temp., so I froze them and thaw one at a time and put them in the fridge. I'm sure it would be better if you stuck to the original recipe.

| ![]() Has anyone tried any of the recipes on this website and used the BalanceIt supplement? Buster loves the food but doesn't like the grainy texture of the supplement. Any suggestions to make the supplement more invisible in his food? |

I don't like Balance IT Canine because it contains menadione. I use Balance IT K but this is reserved for dogs with medical issues, so I'm not sure everyone should use it. Balance IT has their own site and they can give you the amount of Balance IT you should use and the amount of human vitamins and minerals you should use, so you would have a choice. However, one of the human supplements they want you to add isn't without problems, so I see it as a no win situation. If you do get a recipe from Balance ITs site, I would not recommend the one with cottage cheese because I thought it made Ellie extrea thirsty (could be wrong though). By the way, petdiets.com is Ellie's nutritionist's website. ![]()

| ![]() Thanks for your info. I didn't know about menadione. I don't understand why they would use it if it is harmful, even if it is in a tiny concentrate. I was told the Canine K supplement is more grainy than the regular, and Buster doesn't like the texture. They told me to dissolve it in Karo syrup to get rid of that feeling. What is the difference between the two supplements? I made him the recipes with chicken and beef. |

| ![]() I love all these great sounding recipes for homemade doggy treats etc...but how do you know if you need to suplement calcium, protein etc....or how much to give, etc. I don't want to "overdose" my little one one these things and make her be sick....how do you know? |

I'm not sure on the freezing thing. I've never tried it. I keep them for a week or two just like human cookies but who knows if that is really healthy or not...
