| Where does it end? And most of these are "quality" foods. It seems safer buying 20 cts canned food from the dollar store. I mean this isn't the first time for this. I had some of these a few months ago but already fed them to Yorks. I need to read more and see how long between the feeding and onset of symptoms. Currently I have some Purina and Nutro (dry) and the rest of my food is Canidae (canned and dry). You know this has to hit them in the pocketbooks......perhaps it will hurt enough to keep this from becoming an even worse TREND then it is. The news said it was filler from wheat causing it.

| Oh my!!!!! I thought it was only dry foods - I guess I had read it wrong because I was so nervous. Well I reread and saw that nutro ultra puppy is on list my babies just started eating this about 3 wks ago. I can't even check because I threw last can away last wk. I'm so upset right now Thank God they seem fine. I was able to get through and speak to someone @ menu foods. They took my info down and someone is suppose to call me back in 24 to 48 hrs. I asked if I took them to get blood work who would be responsible and they said that they could'nt answer any questions right now until someone contacts me Does anyone know how soon the symptoms show ?

| My two yorkies have been eating the Iams pouches that were recalled. I was feeding them one serving a day of it. Thank goodness they also were eating Royal Canin kibble and boiled chicken and not just the Iams. I immediately called my vet and she advised they both come in for blood tests. I took them in Monday and they both tested normal at this point. My vet advised that renal or kidney problems can take time to develop but that finding it early can make acute kidney failure treatable but chronic kidney failure is harder to help. She advised that anyone who was feeding these foods watch their pet for any sign of illness and get a blood test to see if damage has occurred and if it has not then at least the blood test can serve for a future comparison in case the pet becomes sick in the next year from the damage from the tainted foods they had already consumed. Hope this helps any one else who had been feeding these. |

| Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | from what i've seen at work the onset of the renal failure is very quick. A co-worker of mine was feeding her cat the nutro and iams pouches. She brought in her cat one week for routine bloodwork and it was perfectly normal. Two weeks later after being fed this food she came in very sick and a ultrasound was done. The vet said she had renal deficiency. this was about a month ago when we didn't know about the food recall. She had no idea what could have caused this so quickly in her cat. Now we know. Its probably that damn food. She came in again today for more blood work and a urinalysis. we'll find out tomorrow how much damage was done. She's thinking of suing the company because we have pretty soild proof in this instance with the previous perfect blood work, the iams and nutro pouches, and now the bad bloodwork.

dry food is safe and wet food that isn't in gravy or sliced meats. The canned food that is can shaped (LOL you know what i mean) is still alright to feed. i have cans of canidae that i still give to morgan. Also at the hospital we still give the mighty dog cans and science diet cans.

http://www.menufoods.com/recall/index.html The products are listed by brand, and then tells you the specific product. Just because a brand is on the list, doesn't mean the entire product line is bad. Only a few select products. | |

about eukanuba, i personally do not like this food because of the company itself. check out www.iamscruelty.com iams and eukanuba are produced by the same company. also i feel the ingredients in the food aren't up to par. There are better foods out there like chicken soup, canidae, innova, and wellness.

| I just had to report back to y'all. My three dogs, being fed Nutro Natural Choice Lamb & Rice DRY KIBBLE, were all sick, throwing up last week when the recall first came out. The vet was treating them for the nausia. I immediately switched to Royal Canin with the intention of buying Wellness or Innova when the stores opened on Monday. Well, I've been very busy at work and they are still eating the Royal Canin. All three dogs stopped having any sickness as soon as I made the change. They are much happier with the food, and much more active this week. No matter what they are saying, I truly believe that there is something bad in the dry kibble as well. I still have my big bag I opened recently in the pantry and am calling the vet on Monday, and may even call the veteranary science department at Texas A&M University. There may not be as much contamination in the dry kibble, but I think this is just too coincidental. If anything comes of this, I will let y'all know. |
