No Longer a Member | Those of you who feed Canidae... OK, I tried the raw thing, and while Chloe seemed to like it a bit, I just decided this was not for me. So even though she is picky and puts her nose up at it, we're doing the tough-love thing until she decides to eat and I've decided it will be Canidae. She seems to have a hard time with these kibbles. She used to eat Royal Canin puppy 33, which are very small, flat. Basically, I think she mostly swallowed them without chewing. So now on the Canidae, she grazed all day, only eating a few kibbles here and there, and it seemed she had lots of trouble chewing them. I think because it was so easy to swallow the other things, that she doesn't really know about chewing food too much. That would explain why she doesn't do well with dog biscuits and such. So after most of the day went by and she at no more than a tablespoon, I decided to soften them in some warm water. She wolfed them down after that. So I'm wondering those of you that feed Canidae, did your yorkie have trouble with the kibble size ever? Chloe is 5.5 months old, and I guess I just want reassurance that other yorkies her age can handle the kibble size, which even though it is small, is much larger than Royal Canin or Chicken soup puppy. |

| Hannah did have a little trouble eating the kibble at first. I would sit in the floor with her and play fetch with the food so she would eat it, it took her a while to eat it though. I notice that she will eat a little bit through out the day instead of alot at once. |

| When I first started feeding Siu Pao with Canidae...I remember mixing the Canidae with a little warm water, sometimes chicken broth but I can't remember was it due to the size of the kibble or he likes it better when its wet. I still mix a little water/chicken broth to his Canidae just because I am more comfortable with him not being so thirsty after eating but at 9 months old, he has no trouble eating it. If you find it too big, try pounding it to smaller pieces using mortar and pestle. I used to do that with Innova Puppy Dry.

| At 5.5 months she's probably teething...if her mouth is sensitive right now hard food would be tough for her to handle. I would find a flat, easy to break food or I would soak her food with some warm water so she could chew it better. |

I did try pounding the kibbles at first, and what she was doing was only licking throughout the bowl to lick up whatever crumbs would stick to her tongue. She was even leaving the broken pieces. I think she is just a lazy eater. I do believe she is teething. I noticed one of her canines is missing. She got her big girl front small flat teeth a while back. But now, I think she's gonna get her big dog ferocious teeth (ferocious yorkie?! LOL) now. | |

Bobbi has no trouble with the kibble size. I wouldn't soften them because it defeats the purpose of eating dry kibble (good for teeth). Keep pounding them and feed canned until she finished teething?

If she is teething, maybe it hurts to eat hard food like kibbles. Try softening it with a little warm water/warm chicken broth. Just put the liquid in and leave it for a few minutes, she would be able to eat better.
