treats for liver compromised dogs Does anyone have any home made recipes for doggie treats for liver compromised dogs? I did find a turkey based recipe. Can I substitute boiled chicken in this? Any suggestions for my baby? I like to feed him 3 - 4 times a day to keep his sugar level up.

Does your furbaby like veges? If so then I might be able to help. If your baby has liver issues, then you probably need to avoid extra protein.... have you talked with your vet about acceptable foods?

I had a recipie for turkey treats but I understand turkey is high in protien. I have not checked with the vet. I do get LP dog food from them but would like to spoil them with treats. My other yorkie is not liver compromised but I am sure she will like what I make. She pretty much sticks to dog food, carrots and apples. Oh and they both love yogurt. |

I am trying to find the vegetable treat recipe that I used years ago. If I am able to find it, I will pm it to you You can always slice carrots and freeze them -- that makes a GREAT treat, especially as the weather gets warmer.

Here is one that will work for you that I make. 4 cups rice flour 1 cup of non fat chicken or beef broth 1/2 cup fresh carrots (in food processer till chopped fine) 1/2 cup fresh broccoli (in food processer till chopped fine) Mix all ingredients well (add more broth a little at a time if it's too dry) and spread out on a non stick cookie sheet to about 1/4 inch thick. Bake in a 200 degree oven for about 40 to 45 minutes. Lay out on a cookie rack to cool and break into small pieces, put in freezer zip-lock bags and freeze. No need to thaw before giving them these treats.
