| went to the vet's again today so the Layla saga continues! her poops were getting better so i started taking her off of her meds.. and the diarrhea came back... so i called the vet today.. he asked if she was getting anything other than the food he gave us (i lied.. said no.. but we have been giving her treats.. i NEVER thought about it) so again i feel horrible for being the cause of her diarrhea coming back... anyways.. he gave us more of the wet food we have been feeding her and more meds and we are to continue the meds for 4-5 days.. then take her off and continue the food (he said forever.. this is her new food) but for a few weeks then gradually start her old food back. i do NOT want her to be on this new food.. it is not the high quality food she is used to and i really want her to be back on her Blue Buffalo.. i feel SO much better with her on it.. so PLEASE pray that the reintroduction of her old food (in a week or so) goes well.. i'll be SO upset if she has to be on this new food forever |

| What is it about the food he is prescribing that makes it better for her? Perhaps it is the meds keeping the running poops at bay and not the food??

| see that is what I thought... the food is a special Medi*Cal formula for gastro-intestinal issues... i still think it is the meds and not the food.. but i'll do like he says for 4-5 days.. take her off the meds and see who is right |

| I hope your baby girl feels better soon! Upset tummies are no fun for puppies or mommies Emma eats Blue Buffalo too-and I completely agree with you-I feel good knowing that she's eating a quality food. Hopefully she'll be back to normal soon. Emma will say a little prayer for her when she eats her Blue Buffalo breakfast tomorrow morning |

| Once Layla is done with the vet's program, you might want to try adding a little yogurt with active cultures to her diet daily. Many times adding these probiotics will really help with tummy issues. Make sure it isn't diet and has no artificial sweeteners. Plain is best (if she will eat it). Sissy eats the Dannon Activitia Vanilla (she won't eat the plain) but she loves this. Angel now eats it too. The love their yogurt in the morning (they each get about 1/4 of the container). Another thought, are you using Missing Link? I know that some pups have troubles with the fiber content and it irritates their tummy.

| great suggestions! we are using missing link..well we were before all of this but we had been for a while before it all started.. .might it have built up in her system? layla was on a high fibre diet due to soft poops which lead to anal gland issues i tell you.. if it's not one thing it's the other! |

| hey all.. just wanted to let you know layla is doing GREAT!! i went to a great little pet shop in town and they only carry the best of the best... after much debate.. we chose to feed Fromm's. the woman at the store is SO knowledgable and as soon as she heard that layla was on a vet diet she said to take her off it immediately because.. as i knew.. the food is crap.. so today was layla's first day introducing her new kibble which she LOVES.. she eats it before the wet stuff! and so far we havn't had any loose poops (the lady said she might have a few since her system is trying to clean itself out and get rid of the bad food) tomorrow iwill be her first day with all kibble and i'm hoping it goes well. i'm a bit nervous about reintroducing "free feeding" since with the wet food she was on a scheduale and wolfed it down.. so i'm hoping she will pace herself... i'm jsut SO pleased with how things worked out and so happy i found this new store.. i feel like i have everyone here on YT who knows what is best for my girl and now i have someone in "real life" i can go to. Thanks to eveyrone for their nice thoughts and help. BIG THANK YOU to Jess (JESSY_RN2B) you have been this biggest life saver and a great friend! wouldn't have made it through these past few weeks without you!!! oh and layla says a big hello to bobbi |

| Glad to hear that she's improving Whoever said to give yogurt, LuvMySissy I think, is right on the money! If she needs the high fiber the Missing Link sure does have that, but the other ingredients may not have agreed with her tummy. You might want to try some plain ground flaxseed meal, when things settle down some Yay Layla!!!!!!!

| Had you ever seen any clear mucus in her stool w/maybe just a spot of blood. I have seen so many recent cases of coccidiosis. I think my friends pom has it & I am keeping it for her (actually she's looking for a new home) But I got out the albon & yogurt. She dehydrated in a day & with th albon she was back to normal after her nap. I will keep them (all your pets have to be treated)on it for at least 14days maybe 21. |

| Treats were my Olivers downfall..., even one treat would cause him to have runny poop,,,, even just plain ole milkbones,,,, all the fancy treats everything,. as long as he gets no treats he is fine, |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | The yogurts with active cultures are a good thing. Doc said we could crush and mix Ozzie's meds with yogurt (MUCH better than fighting down multiple pills). I got some yo baby! brand yogurt. Has six active cultures in it, including acidopholous (sp) which is great for the intestinal system. Using vanilla and banana -- closest to plain they offer -- and he slurps it up! |
