| I feed my Ginger-girl Actrium1 Holistic Adult Dog Food for Small Breeds from Walmart...no by-products, no corn, no wheat, no colours, no fillers, no artificial preservatives - and lots of extra goodies. About $12 Cdn for a 3.2 kg bag. My cat also gets their cat food. Ginger also gets a bit of wet food: Ol'Roy Healthy Nutrition (Walmart store brand) - 44¢ for a 6 oz. can which lasts her 5-6 meals. But upon review does contain Wheat Gluten. I did not know that paw licking can be attributed to allergies (and she seems to have some other symptoms), so I am definitely look to try a new wet food. I spent hours reading every label to find these products - and yes at pet stores too which also sell a lot of garbage! In my case, I can't afford to shop at the one highly overpriced pet food store that is near my home, so I needed to find the best affordable/convenient thing I could at the local big box store that was healthiest for my girl. I am comfortable with what I found, and just wanted to point out not everything that is found outside of a pet store is bad. In fact, I was just looking at a new fresh ingredient wet food (sorry, can't remember the brand) last time I was at Walmart, so I'm going to check it again to see if it is appropriate as a replacement. Oh, and I think this is my first post - so also a big thank you to everyone for all the great things I have learned! We've had our 5 year old girl for about 3-4 months now, and this site has been a huge help. |
