It has been freezing here, negatives at night only a high of 8 degrees today.
I am not going anywhere near the pass right now...I love southern pecan pie...my stepmom is going to make one next month when I visit...yummm

Wow, I just realize how off topic we got on this one. I'm assuming Sassy is ok now, right? Where did you get her - just wondering since she is a year old.

I got one of mine when she was six months, another when she was 13 weeks and the last when she was almost 11 weeks. I almost begged the breeder to let me bring Brea home. She didn't want to let her go cause of something that had happened with another pup, but she knows me and how I treat my pups and I promised her I would call her the instant anything seemed wrong. It was right before Christmas and I NEEDED a new pup to love....

I love off topic. Conversation evolves and that is just the natural way of it.

Well, as far as Sassy and the problem. I have solved it at one end of the spectrum and created another at the other end. I bought some wet food to mix with her dry food and she loved it so much she gobbled it right up. I have no idea how much is too much and don't want to over feed her. Should I let her eat her fill or what? Aaarrrggghh!! I leave the dry down for her and figure if she is really still hungry she will eat that. **sigh** I just don't know if I am doing right or wrong.

As to boiled peanuts...it is a very southern thing. You take green peanuts, not dried or roasted like I can get out here in CA. Boil them in salted water for about one and a half hours. Drain the water. Store in refrigerator. They usually don't last long. Especially if you have guests. All southerners love them. They are soft after boiling instead of crunchy. Delicious!!

To the pecan pie I ate...it took me three days. I didn't eat it all in one sitting.

To Cindy.....I figured a couple of dozen cheesecakes. But then, you would have to eat at least one because you wouldn't be able to resist.

I guess in my way of thinking, I wouldn't let her eat as much as she wants all the time. You might end up with a FAT yorkie! Is she potty trained? If she's not trained all the way - it makes it harder if they eat throughout the day cause then you don't know when they have to relieve themselves - well, that is unless she goes to the door or something to let you know.

My older girls eat twice a day and my baby will be eating three times a day for a while longer. Of course they get their treats, too!

I go by how they look as to how much to feed them. Tinka tends to be such a pig and gains weight easily, so I don't feed her quite as much. Kaya is thin so I feed her a little more and when she gains some weight, I'll adjust it again.

Those boiled peanuts sound interesting... so we're talking peanuts that have been shelled, right? Wow, I would think they would fall apart while cooking that long. They must be really hard? Can't you get them anywhere else but down south? How about the web? (gee- maybe e-bay! ) I would like to try them. Maybe some of us northerners might like them! After all we do like pecan pie!!!!!!!

Feeding wet food is a difference of opinion on this site and with Vets.
I only feed Bailey wet food when she is on meds. Unless you brush their teeth after eating wet food, I was told not to use it by both my trainer and vet. They say it sticks to their teeth and over time causes tooth decay.

I leave dry food down for Bailey all the time, she justs eats when she is hungry. I know others don't agree with that, but it works for us and Bailey is healthy. Just make sure it is the healthiest food you can afford & dog will eat. A lot of pet stores will give you samples to try.

Just like raising human kids, you do what works for you and your dog.

And I hate boiled peanuts...It is an aquired taste...

So at four pounds....I have no idea of how much I should give her at each feeding. I have been taking a handful (I have small hands) of the dry and mixing it with about one and a half tablespoons of the wet. She eats it up and begs for more. I don't want her to be hungry, but I want a Yorkie baby and not a piggy.

Peanuts need to be boiled in the shell. Some folks like to suck on the shells much like people suck the heads of crawfish at a crawfish boil. Me? NEVER!!!

I don't know of any place to get them. My neice tried those in the market that are dry but not roasted. She assured me that ehy work fine. NOT!!! Gotta start with green wnad wet. It helps if you know peanut farmers, but I don't, these days. Sadly, I just get to have them when I go home. Maybe there is someone on here that knows how to get them and could be coerced into shipping them.
