| Choking I have to share this story with everyone and I hope it serves as a lesson to ALL pet owners to be very careful and not take anything for granted. Last night we had Chinese food. Without realizing it, Lexi got a RIB bone from the trash and got a large chunk of meat stuck in her throat. She began to gag. Then she went on her side and got stiff and started to like convulse. We were besides ourselves. We weren't sure what to do to help her. We were helplessly watching our loveable little dog die! Not knowing what I was doing, I picked her up, put the length of her little limp body between my legs and gave it a quick, solid squeeze. Thank god, the chunk of meat came out. It took her around 15 minutes to start moving around again but we knew there was nothing else stuck in there because her distress went away and she vomited a couple of times. Please, please, please - be aware of what's lying around. We never thought she would go into the trash and take something out. We didn't even think she could reach it. Thankfully this story has a happy ending. |

| Oh my gosh!! I'm so happy that Lexi is OK and the timing of the story is just perfect. You're an awesome Mommy - Lexi should be proud! We recently moved back to NYC after spending almost five years in SF and are still getting settled in. We bought Mojito three weeks ago and he's not tall enough to get to the trash yet but man, is he trying!! That's it - tomorrow we're going to get a stainless garbage can with a lid!!! Hope little Lexi is doing well!! Kisses from Mojito |

| Wow! I try not to put stuff they might eat in the trash just in case but sometimes I forget and thinks "What dog would wanna eat that anyway?". I'm sure they would't know what it was and would try eating it nonetheless. Thanks for sharing this story and what a great mom you are to catch her and help her! I would have not known to have picked her up and squeeze the tummy. |

| [You have nooo idea how much I was dreading to get the end of your story... I thought you were going to tell us how your baby died! Inside I was praying otherwise... Thanks for sharing your story... Sam has a very bad habit of going in the garbage as well.. and dammit he always manages to grab something... *grabbing purse and keys* I am now going to walmart for a new lid trash can. Thanks for the advice.. and I am SOOOOOOOOOO HAPPPY your doggie made it. Thanks to you...
