Choking I have to share this story with everyone and I hope it serves as a lesson to ALL pet owners to be very careful and not take anything for granted.
Last night we had Chinese food. Without realizing it, Lexi got a RIB bone from the trash and got a large chunk of meat stuck in her throat. She began to gag. Then she went on her side and got stiff and started to like convulse. We were besides ourselves. We weren't sure what to do to help her. We were helplessly watching our loveable little dog die!
Not knowing what I was doing, I picked her up, put the length of her little limp body between my legs and gave it a quick, solid squeeze. Thank god, the chunk of meat came out. It took her around 15 minutes to start moving around again but we knew there was nothing else stuck in there because her distress went away and she vomited a couple of times.
Please, please, please - be aware of what's lying around. We never thought she would go into the trash and take something out. We didn't even think she could reach it. Thankfully this story has a happy ending. |
