WHAT is the matter? My 5 mo old male coughed all night long! Needless to say, I got very little sleep and I'm a grump this morning. I don't know what's the matter! He hasn't coughed even once since we got up at 5:00 AM. Why is he doing this at night only? He's had a bordetella vaccine and it surely isn't a collapsed trachea if he's not doing it now. He eats nothing but his puppy food and water. I'm puzzled...and need to DO something before nightfall!

how cold does it get in youre area? the air might be dry (i have heard of using humidifiers to help with night time coughing), you could have washed or treated youre bedspread or his sleeping area with something that might make him cough, The obvious would be kennel cough.... what does the cough sound like? like he is trying to hack something up or like something is caught in his throat???? (when toby had kennel cough he did it mostly at night, and in the day time he was more or less fine with only one or two coughing incidents during the day..... but when nighttime came he would cough ALL NIGHT)

Coughing Hi everyone, Years ago I had the same problem with my little Muffin. My vet said to give her a little cherry-flavored children's benedryl in a dropper. It worked for us. I don't know if it would help you or not. It seemed to happen in the spring and autumn mostly, so we thought it might be allergy-related. Anyway, it took care of the problem.

It could be an URI. I would take the puppy to a vet to be sure. Best, deborah
