| Bacteria in his Nose!! Ok, I took Jaxson to the vet Saturday because I noticed over a couple of days he was blowing out of his nose like a sneeze almost. I thought it might be dust he was clearing at first, and I notice he was scratching his ears. So to be on the safe side I took him in. The vet did cultures and said he had a little yeast in his ears and bacteria in his nose. He said he was surprised the had so much but he gave me an antibotic and ear drops which he has been on since Saturday. He is suppose to be on it 6 days and be rechecked. This visit cost me $159. Is that too much? ... and how in the world did he get bacteria in his nose and how do you prevent this?????? |

| Do you use plastic bowls? Use glass or stainless & wash everyday especially until he is well or he might get it back. Bacterial infections can be like staff, impetigo, strep... That does sound like alot $$ The office visit should have been $25-35 then maybe 10-15 for scrap & maybe 10-20 for meds. So a min $45 or max $70-in my opinion. Look at your bill & if you think you were over charged I would bring it up & see if they could adjust. Maybe he was giving himself a xmas bonus. Keep us posted |

| The price sounds normal to me. I live in California and everything is expensive. Welcome to YT. |

| Hi Denesha, am glad you are able to find out what is wrong with little Jaxson. I only know of yeast infection in the ears and Annika had them when I first brought her home although my breeder already told me so, but never on the nose. . . but boy your VET is sure expensive. |

| To much bread or wormings or if he is on antibiotics can cause over growth of yeast, feeding yogurt would help. Mine like strawberry danactive drinks Quote:

| Poor little Jaxon! Hope he is healthy & happy real soon! The only time we have had a problem like that with Toto's ears, was caused by too much hair down in there and when she was bathed the water was retained and it caused a yeast infection. It seems the groomer was not plucking the ears but was snipping them so far down in there with scissors, it was just a matted mess! I felt soooo rotten ... I didn't know and needless to say we never took her back to her. The ear hairs are now plucked by the vet, nails clipped by the vet, anal gland expressed by the vet and I bathe her and clip her myself!! I also use those little foam earplugs in her ears when I bathe her just to be safe.

| I THOUGHT his ear hair might be too long but he's only 11 weeks and the vet didn't say anything. I will get that done asap! Thanks For all the money they charged you'd think he would have made mention of this as a cause too. What kind of ear plugs?? |
