How much .......... chicken and white rice do I give my 4 month old pup and how often? She has been having several loose bowel movements a day for 2 weeks now with mucus in it (no blood). She is actly perfectly normal, eating , playing etc. The vet did a stool sample and showed up negative but I will be doing another one just to be sure. I also heard canned pumpkin is good for this, does anyone recommend this? Thanks Mimi

I would DEFINATELY get the vet to retest her stool sample for parasites. She might have coccidia or giarrdia. If it comes back negative again, you should really ask the vet what to do about her loose stools. You do not want her getting dehydrated. It would be dangerous. Good things to food her for her tummy are boiled chicken and white rice (as much as she'll eat, really), canned pumpkin, plain yogurt, and cottage cheese. Please keep us updated on how your baby is doing. Definately take her to the vet and get her checked out. Yorkies are just too small to risk dehydration.

Just be careful to not mix all of these together in one meal. And if you go to your vet and he's of no real comfort, I'd get a second opinion. |

Hi...this is the very reason why and how I stumbled upon yorkietalk last year! One week after I got TJ, he would have his episodes (as I call them)... He didn't want to eat and his tummy area would make all these strangle loud gurgiling noises, then after awhile of him just lying around he would poop but it would pretty much be just mucus...and then he would be fine and starving! I would suggest going up the search button here at Yorkietalk... type in: mucus poop There is tons and tons of very helpful information in past threads! You can PM me if need to talk more

Hi, Thanks for reply's I noticed her stools were loose after I started giving her omega 3 (salmon oil) for her dry skin and it has improved alot since I have been giving it to her but I'm wondering if this may be causing the loose bowels so I decided I am going to stop giving it to her for a couple of days and see what happens. As I stated she is completely herself and is not acting like she is sick. She does not go outside so I know its not something she may have eatin. She eats all of her food and drinks her water everyday. She is on Eukanuba for the mean time but will be switching to nutro choice. Also I notice that her stools become loose mainly in the night time then she will go like every 30 minutes for about 4 times, she poops roughly about 5 -6 times daily. But will be doing another stool test just to play it safe. Mimi
