Amazing about how many brands of dog food there are. They are all claming to be the best of the best. I use to just buy Alpo at the grocer but since I brought the new pup in, I wanted better quality for both dogs. |
We use royal canin and eucanuba (due to the pet store feeding) As soon as "the smallest bag they have" runs out we are no longer using Eucanuba. PS the pet store bag has lasted 3 months:D |
I have been using iams toy breed, but I am switching to royal canine yorkie. We are going to petsmart this week sometime to stock up on food, wee pads & a toy I'm sure :p A petsmart is over a hour drive for us. There is a petland about 30 minutes but they dont carry royal canine. |
I feed Exclusive I have tried Royal Canine, California Natural, Innova, Solid Gold and turned to Exclusive. All my pups coats are really pretty and no allergic reations from my Bulldog. I don't know what it rates but it works for my gang. |
how about sensitive stomachs? I would love to get a list of foods thats top notch, and has no known allergy producing ingredients.. Ralphs has had many bouts of diareah and with blood.. he has been thru all the tests, and it looks like food allergies/intolerances.. I/D food is ok right now, but I have read that you create food allergies by staying with one kind of food for to long. Case in point.. I have had him on an excellent food Wysong Annergen, which is supposed to be one of the best for food allergies//now I may have to change or at leats rotate. Just spent thousands at the ER vet hospital, with every test-including ultrasound. So besidse adding Tylan..I wuld love a list of best foods too for IBS or colitis or food allergies.. |
I am getting ready to change the food I'm feeding my baby. He's presently on Science Diet. I've read all the bad stuff about it, and I was surprised because it's what my vet recommended. DUH! But today when I took my 9 week old in for a vaccine, I asked a receptionist that I trust that has and has had Yorkies what she fed her's. She told me definately not to feed them the garbage I was feeding him. She uses Natural Choice. I came home and printed out a list of some I found through this website from globalpaw.com and I came across some I checked. ALso I called a pet store close by that said they carry a holistic blend called Merrick and they carry Eukanuba. I looked up Merrick......and its sounds pretty good. What's the census from the pro's here on Yorkietalk? Have any tried it and does it work well with babies? |

I have been feeding Life's Abundance for almost a year and a half now with no allergies or other health problems. If you will feed Life's Abundance and the Skin & Coat Supplement I am confident you will see an improvement in your Yorkies health. You have a money back guarantee. I'm still using Life's Abundance for my daughters 3 babies....her 2 chi's and the Shih-tzu. They're doing fine on it. I had to switch to the disgusting Hill's Prescription Diet U/D food because Ralphie's stones are calcium oxalate, and it's actually made me sick to my stomach each time I feed him that awful smelly stuff. I called Hill's the other day and I asked the rep how healthy could their food be when the first 6 ingredients are total crap. He said I should stop reading the Internet and he said that the food is actually human grade chicken but by law it cannot be listed as such because the chicken is not purely 100% white meat. He said it absolutely does not contain feathers and bad stuff. I just find it hard to believe that it's really dog food! It looks like a jellied block of slime! I expressed my concerns that the diet is very low protein and how could any dog exist on it for any length of time. He said my vet has to examine my baby's blood every 6 months from hereon in to make sure his levels are good. I just got some PH paper to test his urine daily. After feeding him so well for the past 5 years, I feel like I'm feeding him Wendy's or McDonald's. |

I'm switching since my last post I've decided to swith to Canidae All Life Stages, Lamb and Rice. It's hard to find a place that sells it in my area, but I did find a lady that delivers to your home. I love this idea and it only costs $1.81 to deliver. |

My dog will eat food off the floor now instead of her bowl. Funny. |
Hi. I saw your posting about a "Yorkie diet book". Can I ask what book? My Missy is so finicky and I can't get her to eat these days. She is 12.5 weeks old. Also, can you tell me the the age of your Yorkie? |
Eukanoba |
Lexus is on chicken soup and she gobbles it up - I just can't put the missing link in it or she won't touch it. We've learned to since give her a tablespoon of cottage cheese a day (separate from her food - we call it a treat and she runs for it) with 1/2 a teaspoon of missing link in it. Then she eats its! |
my yorkie just wont eat canidae-- ive been trying for 2 days-- if he gets hungry enough he will eat-- i feel bad but its for his own good. my sheltie and pom is eating it just fine- they were on purina-pro plan but ive been reading more about foods and i want them on something GOOD for them. my yorkie is 4lbs. i mix it with canned food and he licks it and drops the nibblet on the floor-- im gonna have to get him to eat the dry by itself-- any advice?? |

Cesar's a no-no..? Hello all, I've read in other forums that Cesars is a definate no-no. However, sometimes that is the only way i can get my 5mo old pup to eat. He eats a quarter of a tin in the morning mixed with brown rice or crushed NutriScience, and eats the same thing at night. Most of the time he refuses to eat the NutriScience on its own. I havent read much about NutriScience products, so can anyone give me the downlow on it? I wasn't at all concerned about his diet until I came across posts insisting that feeding him Cesars isn't good for his health. However other times I feed him some ground beef cooked in olive oil and drained with some brown rice and a chopped up carrots. I try to sneak in some NutriScience as well. After knowing now that there is much debate over store bought dog foods, I might want to rely more on homecooking when I have the time. Anyone have any recipes? |
