| Bad disease: Lymphangiectasia My 7 year old yorkie Artie was diagnosed in August 2004 with this colon disease. We tried prednisone and a hypoallergenic diet at the exclusion of all other foods as recommended by Arties vet and the pathologist. Although he was under weight he seemed to do ok with occasional flare ups of bloody diarrhea. Last week he developed vomiting and diarrhea and went downhill fast. Although he was at the vets getting fluids his protein decreased and we put him to sleep on Saturday. This was our third yorkie. The first had a shunt and died at age 2 ,the second lived until 15 and now this. Has anyoe else had this experience? My mom is devastated and doesn't want to get another yorkie for fear of this disease. I guess it runs in terrier line Please advise. |

| I have no advice but your story breaks my heart. I've never heard of that disease. So many things can happen to these little ones and we all take a chance by getting so attached. But the love we give and get from them while they are here is immeasureable! So sorry about your loss

| Sorry For Your Lost It is pone to happen in yorkie but happen in other breeds as well , I found a site with some info on this condition. I am sorry for your lost. There are diseases in all breeds of dog it just more common in some then other. I hope your mom changes her mind and get another yorkie. With everything that goes along with this breed, Icouldn't imagine my life without having one. Good luck to you. www.newmanveterinary.com/Lymphangiectasia.html |

| Dear Yorkiegirl, Thanks for the support I"ve already been to that web site but what I'm trying to find out is if anyone actually had or has a dog with this disease. I hope my mom will get another yorkie but she is very afraid. It was devastating! thanks again for the concern |
