| Does anyone feed 2 or more food brands mixed? I have recently started feeding my babies Chicken Soup Puppy hard food and Canidae All Life Stages hard food mixed together. I also put the Missing Link on it. They are picky eaters, but they are eating it just like they were when I was just feeding the Chicken Soup. On the Dog Food Review website, Chicken Soup Puppy got 5 stars, but the Chicken Soup Adult only got 4 stars, and on the Chicken Soup Puppy bag, it says that it is formulated to be fed to dogs of all ages, puppy and adult. Since my 2 like it so much, and since it got 5 stars instead of 4, I think I am going to continue feeding the Puppy formula and not switch over to the Adult formula unless they start getting overweight. Is this a bad idea? Or does it sound plausible? I have also been interested in trying the Wellness Super5Mix. But, I don't want to stop using the Chicken Soup or Canidae in order to try it. Does anyone mix 3 different hard foods together for their furbabies? Would it hurt to mix 3 together? I have been hearing more and more about how it is good to feed a variety of foods so they will get all their nutritional requirements that oftentimes one food cannot provide. Any thoughts on this? |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i feed Morgan a mix of bil jac and natural balance. and as soon as one runs out i'm gonna put wellness into the mix. she's a picky eater only because she'd rather have human food instead....which my mom gives her... apparently my mom, who didn't want a dog mind you, thinks morgan should get human food because she's a dog and dogs like table scraps... *sigh* anywho, mixing three foods shouldn't be any different from mixing two. i've been throwing in some of the food from sample packs that i've been getting. morgans been getting some merrick samples mixed in with natural balance and bil jac

| I mix nutro chicken, authority and wellness. She has favorites among these and will sometimes pick out her fav. and eat those first but then come back for the rest. No prob mixing. We do add wet food to all this and alternate brands for flavor so she doesn't get bored. Hope this helps. |

| A Very Important Post This was posted here last year. I have read so much in the last month, on forums, about yorkies vomiting and diarrhea. I copied the following post so every new mommy and daddy could read it. I know most of the folks don't feed their babies table scraps, but I am sure there are still plenty of people that do not know any better. So FYI: Yorkie Pancreatitis - PLEASE PAY ATTENTION! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is been my month so far......On July 2nd we woke and our 6 1/2 year old Precious, 4.8 lbs, had thrown up her dog food in our bed. (All sleep with us)..All cleaned up and then she seemed fine all day Sat and Sun. The morning of the 4th, I woke to diarrea on my pillow and she was still laying there. ...All cleaned up again and she acted ok but like she just had upset tummy or didn't feel really perky. That was about 8 am and approx 3 pm we left to go for a ride and have dinner. When we arrived home about 7 she was GONE! No explanation from our vet, said we could get an autopsy but often they did not show the real cause of death for sure. We didn't want that anyway as the pain was already unbearable for my husband and I. We had her cremated and she sits in my office in her little urn. On the evening at 2 in the am of the 10th, our other yorkie, vomited. I was still up and saw this. Watched her til about 3 and she kinda spit up again. By 8 that morning my husband had her at the hospital. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis. She was touch and go and in ICU for two days. Thank God Sassi is home and much better but our sweet baby girl Precious is gone forever, til we meet at the bridge! This disease runs in yorkies. As a matter of fact they are the #2 most suceptible. (sp?) PLEASE do not feed your babies table scraps or anything with fat! I beg you to pay attention if your yorkie starts vomiting and get her to a Dr IMMEDIATELY! Don't want others to go thru what we have been through the last 13 days and certainly do not want any babies to suffer cause you may not know this! __________________ LuvMyBabies |

| I am currently mixing dry Innova with dry Canidae with a teaspoon of wet Merricks mixed in twice a day. I leave a few of the dry only out for free freeding between meals. Ellie |

| I mix Chicken Soup puppy (dry) with Royal Kanin little puppy (dry). I also mixed canned foods. If I buy a brand she does not like, I mix it with a can that she does like. That way, food does not go to waste.

No offense intended Kalina, but to just post that table scraps are okay per your vet experience is being irresponsible. Perhaps you know not to give fatty/salty/seasoned/processed foods to your pet (which is what you will usually find in table scraps) but others might not know what is safe. It is very important to know that 'human food' and 'table scraps' are NOT the same thing. One of my best friends just lost her toy Poodle to pancreatitis... I tried to tell her not to feed her baby table scraps, but she was 'old school' and thought that it would be okay... After thousands of dollars and months of stress, it was a sad day indeed when she had to put her beloved pet down. As far as mixing the foods... as long as you do it gradually and don't make any drastic changes your babies should be fine. Rebecca - I do a mix of the Canidae All Stages, Missing Link and Grizzly Salmon Oil because I have dogs aged 13 - 1.5 years. They are all okay with it, but if I decided to add something else, I would do it gradually to avoid stomach upset.

and anyway, this is not what the board is about, so this should be dropped.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | My mom feeds her malt JUNK! Anything they're eating, she feeds Lily. She won't listen to reason, though, no matter how many times I've tried to tell her. ANYWHO, I'm with SL...we all just want what's best for our babies!
