No offense intended Kalina, but to just post that table scraps are okay per your vet experience is being irresponsible. Perhaps you know not to give fatty/salty/seasoned/processed foods to your pet (which is what you will usually find in table scraps) but others might not know what is safe.
It is very important to know that 'human food' and 'table scraps' are NOT the same thing.
One of my best friends just lost her toy Poodle to pancreatitis... I tried to tell her not to feed her baby table scraps, but she was 'old school' and thought that it would be okay... After thousands of dollars and months of stress, it was a sad day indeed when she had to put her beloved pet down.
As far as mixing the foods... as long as you do it gradually and don't make any drastic changes your babies should be fine.
Rebecca - I do a mix of the Canidae All Stages, Missing Link and Grizzly Salmon Oil because I have dogs aged 13 - 1.5 years. They are all okay with it, but if I decided to add something else, I would do it gradually to avoid stomach upset. |
perhaps i shouldn't have used the phrase table scrapes. she doesn't get whatever we're eating. my mom will give her a tiny piece of cheese, a finger of peanut butter or cream cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, some chicken or turkey, or yogurt. its not like she's getting prime rib off the table. These are all foods that i give her normally as a snack. they are good for her. my mother actually goes out of her way to get something for the dog. and she knows to ask me first what the dog can have. geez...some people are just so picky
and anyway, this is not what the board is about, so this should be dropped.
