| My girl, Chloe absolutely will not eat her food out of her dish. It's almost like she is afraid of it. As soon as I put some food on the floor or in my hand, she gobbles it up like crazy! Anyone else have this problem? It's not the food, she LOVES the food, I can tell! It's just the dish. It's stainless steel, I thought maybe she was scared of her reflection so I use a ceramic bowl now, but no..still scared! She even drinks her water out of the stainless steel dish. What is going on with this gal! Thanks! |

| for the longest time we had to "Play" to get Layla to eat he food- i'd throw a piece of kibble- she would pounce on it and eat it- it was a bit much but it only lasted for a while. |

| Wow..... I was just going to post this very same thing One of my pups does this too I thought it was because they're breeder used to feed them with their dry food on the floor But every since I've had them and they are 4 months now My Mike cannot seem to be able to eat out of a bowl until his brother comes and shows him each time On the floor and out of my hand NO Problem But put him in front of a bowl he pushes it around and cries ![]() and sometimes he'll nose the dish as if he wants to push out the food

| Dixie does the same thing! I always thought it was because she wasn't a big fan of her food. But, I just changed it and she wont eat her new food out of her dish either. Weirdo! |

| Lucas did this when he was about that age too. I would put a bit in my hand, and sort of lure him towards the bowl, and slowly put my hand with the food in the bowl. Then he sort of caught on and started eating. He just needed a little coaxing. Also, it seemed like he needed to have less distractions around when we fed him (toys, etc.). Patience, I think, is key with the eating. We also put a bit of shredded carrot over the kibble, and he loved that too. Maybe give it a try? |

| milu doesn't like to eat out of the dish either. honestly, i think it's kind of good that your baby wants to eat out of your hand. when i went to puppy school with milu, they told us to hand feed the dogs and play with their food while they eat. this way the dogs will learn to not bite people when people try to take away their food, and also, they will learn to have soft mouth and being careful not to bite your hand when you are feeding them. |

| Does she wear a collar? Maybe it hits the bowl and scares her. That was happening to my youngest, Junior. I had to take his tags off. He eats well now.

| I'm in the same dilemna as well. Orion won't eat out of the bowl. He only wants to be hand fed or have bits of food left on the floor. I'm just hoping that this will not become a bad habit of his. I've tried to hand feed and lure him to the bowl, but he's so stubborn and won't go near it.

| this is an amaze a ball JW Pet Amaze-A-Ball Treat Ball for Dogs at PETCO you place there kibble in it and the idea is the pup has to work for there food. They push the ball and the food dispenses it is a great mental excercise for them as well. I have been using one with Milo for over 2 years he loves it. I know it says it is for treats, but we were told about it by our dog trainer to use for his food. Last edited by cdawnfine; 02-06-2009 at 03:46 PM. |
