| Gucci did the whole eating off the ground thing for about 1 month, it had started with eating out of my hand then it turned into eating off the floor but he wouldn't eat unless it was on the ground after that point for about 1 month literally. But after a while I stopped putting it on the ground for him and he began eating out of the dish .. took about a week or so to re-train if you will. You will soon find out that YORKIES WILL TRAIN YOU if you let them!! I learned that exactly where we are now on YT asking why my baby won't eat unless it's in my hand lol. Hope that helps!! |

| I had the exact same problem. It must be a Yorkie thing. My yorkie is 8 months old and I still have to play games with her to eat. I've noticed if I use a small glass pinch bowl she will eat out of that sometimes. Maybe it just doesn't seem so overwhelming if there's not a big bowl with a lot of food in it. She still picks up a piece and throws it up in the air and then pounces on it before she will eat it. I still have to hand feed her though sometimes just to make sure she eats. She only weighs 1lb 6oz and I can't take a chance on her not eating for too long, so what ever it takes. |

| LOL! Sounds like she playing you for attention. Maybe some play time would make her hungry enough to eat out of the bowl. |

| You are probably right. It truly does make you worry though when they literally don't eat all day long unless you put it right in front of their face and practically plead with them. I just give her Dyne in the morning if she won't eat and glucose gel or whatever later in the day, just to make sure her sugar doesn't get low. Maybe she's just following my routine of not eating all day and eating at night. Ooops...not a good roll model. She seems healthy and happy though, so I guess she's okay. |

| YT 2000 Club Member | Have you tried to put the food on a plate? I use the little tea cup plates for my Jeter's food because he wont eat out of the bowls.

| Don't be discouraged, our Prada won't eat out of her dish unless we sit next to it and ignore her. If we look at her, she runs away or just stares at us, but if we look the other way, she'll go and smell for about a minute then reluctantly eat. Some yorkie owners have told me that for a once in awhile treat, or to mix in with dry food every once in awhile are Cesar packs. They have a Bishon on the front and are about $.75 for each one. That might help. Just stick with it!

| OMG Teddy does that water thing too!!! what is that?! why do they go swimming in their waterbowls?! It's frustrating I'm constantly telling him to get out of it and then I try to give him a bath and he all of a sudden hates water. LOL as for the OP They say its a good training technique to hand feed them for awhile, well thats what our trainer said. Anyway I'm sure she will eat out of a bowl soon Teddy used to only eat out of a bowl if I was standing right beside him. |

Yes, that does help. Sometimes you can tell she just doesn't want to eat at all. She turns her face away. But she's doing better now. And I agree with you about the little teacup saucer. I let her have her chicken jerky as a treat if she will eat. Pretty bad having to bargain with with such a tny thing! lol | |
