| Your vet didn't give you any pain medication? If not, that is real shame. My vet's office told me it is not standard procedure for many vets to give pain medication other than the anesthesia itself. But, would you want to undergo an abdominal hysterectomy and not be able to take anything for the pain? I would call your vet's office and tell them how she is and request some pain meds for today and the next couple days if she needs them.

| They didn't give Sophie anything for pain but I asked for it before I left and they just gave it to me free of charge. They know how protective I am. I think I would call and ask for some if she is crying in pain.

| My vet gave me pain meds too but I know not all vets do. If she is still in pain I would get them

| it is day 3 and she is doing ok. She thinks she is feeling better and goes crazy running around... i try my best to catch her and make her stay still.. impossible! and then she realizes that hurts... she isn't eating/pooping much.. i might go get some wet food... she ate that right after surgery and loved it... so i'll give that a try today... thanks for all the concern |

| Adrianna is a jumper too!! She's getting spayed next Friday and I'm so scared that she is going to injury herself more when she comes home. I don't have a little dainty girl, I have a little tomboy. I hope that your baby is doing better and please if you have any suggestions for me, I'd appreciate it!

| My vet didn't give us anything either after Trixie got spayed. I ended up getting some baby aspirin and giving a tiny piece to her. It really did wonders. Then I called the vet on Monday (Trixie got spayed in Friday), and picked up some bitter apple so she wouldn't lick the wound. I'm glad she's feeling better.

| Hi Adrianna's Mom Layla is such a jumper... everything makes her excited... so i have been keeping her in her crate... but she loves her crate.. i know not all dogs do! and when she is in there she sleeps.. or i will give her a detabone which keeps her busy for a good hour and tires her out :P also putting a Onesie on her has been the best thing.. she hates it but it is keeping her from licking her wound. I got them at Wal Mart... Layla is 3 lbs so i bought ones for Premies. and she looks too cute :P hope this helps.. any other questions i can try and help with just let me know |

| Did you put the bitter apple right on the wound??? i have some but the doctor said to keep the area dry. PLUS Layla came home with a cotton ball on the incision which the doctor says to keep on.. i'm not sure i think it is a great idea... any thoughts?? |

| My little girl was spayed on Monday and was in quite a bit of pain as well. The vet did send us home with some pain meds to be given 3 times a day. They seem to help but they knock her out. She's been sleeping a lot, which is a good thing. They also told me to keep her from licking her incision so I purchased a premie onsie from WalMart and it fit her almost perfect and completely covered the incision. Having the onsie buttoned around the toosh also prevents her from doing much jumping. |
