Adina is eating her poop Ok this is totally gross I have been noticing that Adinas over night poop is missing I only see a dirty spot on the pee pad but no poop. On one ocassion on a potty trip outside she pooped then went back to try to get it but I told her NO so she left it alone but she is eating it off her pee pad while I sleep. What in the world can I do about this I called our vet but he was in sergury so I am waiting for a call back from him or a tech. Can anybody advise me on what to do??? She sleeps with my other puppy, Blossom, but Blossoms poop is still there when I wake up and I have never seen her even get near Adinas poop outside. Can it be the food. I am totally grossed out and I want to fix the problem so I can get doggy kisses, which are not accepted right now lol......

Be calm....take deep breaths.....It is normal for most puppies to taste their poopies and some go on to eat them! There is even a nice long name for it, but I've forgotten it now. HOWEVER, your vet will be able to give you some pills for Adina that will make her poopies taste really YUCKY, and she won't want to eat them any more! Simple. Help is on the way as soon as you talk with your vet!

This is actually considered normal puppy behaviour..I dont know whats normal about it,but it is..lol. Jessie (my 4 month old) doesnt eat her own poop, but she will do anything to eat my cats! We caught her eating another peice this morning, and cats poop smells waaaaaaaaay more disgusting than dog poop.He is an indoor cat,hes never been outside and is totally healthy,so Im not worried about Jessie getting ill..but its totally gross! We have his litter tray in our laundry room on top of the washing machine, but he sometimes lets a spot fall on the floor..and Jessie waits for these little accidents to happen to be able to eat the little poops...EEEWWWWW-!!!

What is really weird is that both Adina and Blossom eat the same food, so why is Blossoms poop there every morning? When I wake up really early I will find Adinas poop there but I can tell she took a BITE out of it lol. This is totally gross I am still waiting to get a call from my vets office. OMG another thing I don't know if u guys remember Adinas coughing problem well thats about cleared off BUT now Blossom (chihuahua) started to cough and it really does worry me she is 3 months and only 14 oz. I am scared because I have heard kennel cough can kill dogs and she is so small and delicate. I told my vet that Adina slept in same room with Blossom the day I brought her home so I seperated them the very next day and asked if anything can be done so she wouldn't get the cough and the vet said that since she slept with her one night all we could do was wait.So they have been around eachother tho. But I still think she could have vaccinated her just in case. I mean they slept in the same room but different beds. I am just so scared for Blossom.

Basically watch your little one like a hawk, and when they go NEAR POOP, give them a stern NO each and every time. Also, try to clean up any poop that you spot as soon as possible. Yorkies and other dogs do eat poop no matter how gross it may be to us.

It is gross Rudy did it, I would have to watch him like a hawk. doc said some puppies just do it, but when it is yours that is a different story. When Rudy was around 7 months he basicly quit doing it. I know alot of people sprinkle stuff in ther food but, I never did. My three have food down 24/7. I would brush his teeth after thinking he would stop. Hopefully Adian will out grow it .........Cindy

I have to add my 2cents to this one!!! One vet visit, we asked about this very problem. The vet suggested we get this "stuff" to sprinkle in their food to make there feces taste bad. My husband looked up a the vet with an odd look on his face and said "I never realized that poop tasted good to start with"! We got the biggest giggle over this - and we still do!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! My Mia is doing the same thing. She actually just started doing it. Seeing them do it can take their cuteness away in seconds flat! I've just been trying to keep their area clean as much as possible but its hard when I'm away at work during the day. I feel better reading some of the other post that say that it will go away after they get older. Hang in there. Apparently there's light at the end of our tunnel.

| The poop eating isn't something we have experienced! Or breeder had told us that some of them do it and later, in going over all the information ... my husband and I made a vow to each other ... if either of us ever saw Toto eating poop or licking her "private parts" we would tell the other!! We already knew that she wanted to lick our faces as soon as she got near us and now you can just say "Puppy Kisses" and she will reach over and lick your lip!! Good luck ... maybe there is a vitamin or something that they are looking for? Maybe the stuff you put on their food to make it taste bad is a good idea ... but, just like LorieK's husband, I have to say also ... didn't know it tasted good in the first place!!

adinasmommy, I was being suspicious that Cosita was eating her poopoo as well. When I got home I saw that she had rolled up her poopoo with the puppy pad. Like putting it away so it was out of her way. I thought it was the cutest thing. Well, the following days, I would come home and no poopoo. That was weird, I would smell her mouth and it was a little bit stinky.. I would say barely, so I was in doubt. Well, a couple of days ago, she had an accident in the carpet and when I looked over she was eating her poopoo so fast that looked like she was eating spaghetti.. I confirmed my belief she was eating it. She only does it when she goes poopoo inside the house. When she goes poopoo outside she won't eat it. I thought that she was eating when inside the house cuz she didn't want me to see it. LOL ... so I wouldn't get mad. I felt really bad for her. I am going to The Vet to see if he could give me something that way she does not eat it anymore. Is Adina still eating her poopoo? what did you end up giving her? -r
