| Am I Overfeeding the new born pups? hi everyone, Roxy's pups are 3 weeks tomorrow and though i havent weighed them for 2 weeks they look pretty big for a yorkie and they have at least doubled their size from when they were 5 days old. Now they are full breed because i own both parents so im not worried in that sense but im kind of wondering if there is such thing as pups that are being overfed or could it be normal for them to grow so rapidly....?? Anyways, i will try to weigh them tomorrow or over the weekend but i was just curious if anyone has any idea.

Some lines grow quickly, some not so quickly. Your puppies will be what they are genetically and overfeeding is not usually the problem in Yorkies, getting them to eat is usually the challenge. I wouldn't worry too much about weight charts etc. Each litter and individual pup is usually a different rate of gain and maturing. | |

| feeding Are you or the dam feeding them?? If they are nursing and at three weeks they should be, then let them nurse all they want...does not matter if they are "beached whales"..they will slim down when weaned and starting walking, playing.. If you are bottle feeding, then go by the direction on the milk container or ask the vet for the correct amount per feeding, per day..good luck |
