| NuVet Plus?? The breeder that I got Stanley from "requires" that we keep our puppies on this supplement called NuVet Plus. Has anyone heard of this?? It comes in a bottle and is like $55 for one bottle! She gave me a sample of it when I first got him and I gave it to him but I just don't feel the need for him to have it. He's perfectly healthy and always full of energy. It looks like sand...here is the link for it: http://www.nuvet.com/ I just want to know if anyone else feeds it to their yorkies and if anyone agrees with me that I don't need to give it to him.

| Once you have the puppies at your home, the breeder can't "require" you give them supplements. That's going a bit far I think...

| I think I can answer this... First let me say that NuVet is a good supplement. But what you are experiencing with your breeder is becoming very common other than the "requirement" to keep your dog on it. What is happening is NuVet company contacts as many breeders as they can find. They send out free samples of the vitamin for them to give to new owners because every sale that is made through them with their code number, they get a commission. I was contacted by one of their employees once, and I let him talk me into this at first. I did "ok" with the vitamin sales, but realized that if your pet is on a high quality food, there is no need to supplement unless there is a specific health problem you are trying to cover. Like I said, it is a good vitamin IMO, but no one can tell you what you "must" give your pet for the rest of it's life once it is yours. |
