Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Food and Poop ok so my puppy has been on bil jack from the breeder, and i want to switch her to natural balance. So i started adding a couple pieces to her food. She loves it, eats them first. But she's pooped SIX times today, and three times in the house. Is anyone else feeding natural balance? does your yorkie go poop alot during the day? I'm hoping this is just a transitional thing and it will go back to normal once she's regulated, but if not i don't want to feed her natural balance even though its a really good food.

| i used to feed Poopy nutromax, switched to science diet, then switch to nurtro again (just a different flavor) but recently went on a mission to find quality, healthy food for Poopy so he can grow to be healthy. i went to this small boutique near my house and discovered three dog bakery which has this baked food that is 100% human grade quality and all natural. it's baked slowely to keep the taste for them... poopy loves it. i noticed when he was eating all the other brands, his poo poo seems bigger, softer, really nasty...but since i switched to three dog bakery, his poo poo is harder, less smelly, and smaller...you can tell that he's getting better quality food by looking at his poo poo. it does cost more, but because there is so much good quality stuff, you only need to feed him like half of what you'd feed him with the other brands. so in the end it actually is costing me less to feed him... below i pasted the link to the bakery. if there is none in your area you can order online. one box of baked dry food will last a good 6 to 9 months depending on type of breed, but for yorkies, it seems that i havent even touched the bag at all... they also have baked treats that my husband thought was for him cuz they looked so yummy. they sell soft and hard food. you should check it out. we love it... www.threedogbakery.com hope this helps... |

| How often was she going before? Pixie eats mainly a raw diet, but I have been leaving the Natural Balance Ultra Premium out for her during the day... I can't say how much of it she eats, but she only poos twice a day. Charlie was eating Iams when I got him (YUCK YUCK YUCK!) and I'm in the process of switching him over to the raw diet and Natural Balance... He's having no problems with the raw food at all, but on the days I give him a bit of the Natural Balance he gets diarrhea really bad... I actually made the connection between the runs and the food just last night... He had made a mess on Saturday (when I gave him a bit of the dry stuff) and then I left some ('bout a half cup) for him yesterday and I came home to a super nasty, ultra smelly mess. He and all his belongings had to be washed IMMEDIATELY. It was bad... Pixie's stomach is made of steel and I can give her whatever I want whenever I want. I think Charlie is just really sensitive.... If I even add an extra small treat to his diet he gets a little mushy. I'll just have to switch him over more slowly. After that rambling.. I guess I'm saying maybe your pup just has a sensitive stomach and you need to go slow with the switch. I'd give it a bit of time before giving up on the Natural Balance. It really is a good food.... |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | she used to go potty maybe three times a day. once when she first woke up, then after eating breakfast, then after eating dinner, and occasionally on our late night walk. her poop seems fine otherwise, its just more frequent. i'm hoping this is just her adjusting to the food and it will stop. Natural balance is a really good food.

| Cali was on Natural balance and pooped ALOT more than now..I switched her over to Chicken Soup which is ALSO very very good for them, and that's cut down on the pooping..Ive heard a good rule of thumb is she should as many times as she's fed..

| It could be the transition. When I switched my pups to a different food, evenly slowly, they pooped alot but after they were completely switched to the other food, they started pooping alot less. I don't give mine natural balance so I don't know if that particular food would cause it or not. I feed mine Chicken Soup and I absolutely love it, they stay regular the whole time, and it is great for their skin and coats (it has fatty acids and other ingredients in it to promote good skin and coats as well as digestive system) and I have noticed the big differences since I switched them to it!!
