| I feed Canidae and yorkie yummy treats, and I don't think they have any dyes.... . I also give freeze dried beef livers sometimes. It might be that mulch from the landscape that he eats staining his face.... |

| Boiling is NOT the same as distilled. The minerals are not only still present in boiled water, but after boiling they are more concentrated than ever due to evaporation! Try the distilled, it's 68 cents a gallon at Walmart! My two go through about a gallon every two weeks, but I use water bottles, so there's no waste.

| What about bottle of spring water??? It might be a silly Qs, we don't need to buy a speical kind of water just for dog right? Just the same kind we drink? I also feed Chloe water from the fridge? I have filter built in the fridge. Can she drink those? I do notice a lot of tears around her eye area and I need to clean often!! So, do you guys recommend Spring Water?? Thanks!! I love this forum!! I didn't know water could actually make a difference in her diet!! |

| eye discharge Hello! From this forum I have read the following can cause eye discharge: chlorine/minerals from tap water, beet powder or red food dye, and hair around the eyes. Ways listed to treat the problem are: distilled water, no food dye, trimming the hair, and NOT trimming the hair. Are those of you who are using distilled water also trimming the hair around the eyes? Are you also not giving your Yorkie treats/food with red dyes/beet powder? In other words, for those of you who have eliminated the eye discharge... what is your combination with water/food dye/hair trimming?[/B][/U] Thanks (1st post!) |

| Very interesting. We have hard water. (have to add salt every so often.) I will try the distilled water. Also does Chicken Soup come in canned and dry? I heard it was a good food. But had no idea it helped with tearing eyes.
