Thanks - just read it. No need to panic - it says three or four are fine - it's only if they are ingested in large quantities that there is a problem. A couple occasionally doesn't hurt.

| I agree with yorkiesRmine. My dogs in the past should have died acording to "THE LIST" lol.Seriously, mine have eaten EVERYTHING I have ever eaten, from sweet to sour and they have alwas been fine.I must admit that I was worried about Lady and Jess first because Id never had a toy breed before, but after a while of watching them crunch away on kibble every day and looking totally bored with it,I started to feel awful about them not enjoying something I did..so I gave in and started sharing everything I eat with them. They get boiled eggs a couple of times a week, icecream in the summer (they love all flavours lol),ham, chicken, pizza, hamburger, yoghurt, sweets (they love chocolate chip cookies and strawberries!!) they also get water melon, exotic fruits..etc etc..My list is longer than "THE LIST" lol. I DO think that "THE LIST" is a bit drastic and exagerated, after all, there is ALOT of that list that we have given to our babies once in a while |

| I freaked out when I read the no grapes thing too, because I've given some to my dogs before, but it was always 3 or 4, and only a half of the grape at a time to spread them out. My girls also love tangerines. My vet said they could eat anything I could, with the exception of pie, onion, chocolate, or anything fried and that's pretty much what I had been going on. |

| Chocolate My mother in law gave my Pit Bull lots of chocolate when she was nursing her puppies (keep in mind she weighs about 50 lbs.) It made all the milk in her nipples harden (like frozen milk) and she was in alot of pain. She had to keep heated compresses on them until the milk released. Poor Soda. That's our chocolate story. All my dogs (including Milo) tend to pick whatever they can find off the floor and eat it. Especially underneath my son's highchair.

| I do question the accuracy of that list, but to be honest...I would rather be safe than sorry. I do remember giving my best friend's dog (prior to having any knowlege) a chips ahoy chocolate chip cookie (I had the bag in my hands). She ate it and was fine. I'm not sure, but I seem to recall his dog having some lunch meat before (processed ham). Still fine. Then again, that dog ate everything... So I would agree that moderation is key. I wouldn't allow my yorkie near my 5 gallon jug of protein powder though. And I would much rather be safe. |

| Not to sound mean but why is everyone giving their dogs human food? I personally don't think they need the calories, preservatives, sugar, sodium and other junk in people food. Isn't this why we go out of our way to find highly nutritious dog foods with no by product or chicken parts in them. I can understand making your own dog food from natural human foods... ie select cuts of meats, whole grains, and veggies... but seriously are we doing our dogs any benefit by feeding them chocolate? This is just my opinion... feed you dog whatever you want! |

| There are foods out there that dont benifit us in any way at all but we eat them because theyre yummy right? We dont need the calories, preservatives, sugar, sodium and other junk in people food, but we eat it right? I eat chocolate, sweets, fast food etc, these are all junk and dont benifit me at all,but Im still alive and kicking and I eat them because I enjoy them. I think even dogs have the right to something that they are going to enjoy, even if its not highly nurticious, jam packed with vitamins or great for their teeth etc..What im saying is,if I can sit and enjoy an ice cream or a cookie or a bowl of pop corn etc..why cant my dogs?? Ok,so its not going to benifit them, but it isnt going to hurt them either Kibble may be nutricious, healthy etc,but it tastes and smells like s**t and I just couldent give kibble and only kibble to my dogs for the rest of their lifes because I love them and want them to have little treats to look forward too. Mine look forward to their human food treats and I love to see their little faces light up when Im preparing them..you wont see that face with a bowl of kibble |

| Chesea1978 - you spoke my thoughts. I love seeing their little face light up when they are getting a special treat, rather it's honeycomb cereal, chicken, carrots, or whatever. I would hate to know I had to eat some dried up/tasteless dog food for the rest of my life. My baby eats his dry, mixed with a little parmesian every day as well as his Natural Balance Beef Roll, but he also gets some of what I'm eating and I feel as long as I use common sense in what I choose to give him, then that is my perogative and my choice. So many rules for people and our little ones. Let's enjoy it while we're here. |

| I read about grape last summer and it scared me. We had a grape vine growing in our yard and my male Chihuahua ate them whenever he wanted, so I had my husband to cut it down The lady that lived across the street informed me that we had cut down a grape vine that had been growing there for over 20 years My vet says that onions and chocolate are the main things to avoid...I've never asked why they are bad for my dogs. BTW I am new, "HI!". I don't have a Yorkie yet but I am looking for one. I love this forum, I've been reading for hours. I have a lot to learn about the Yorkie breed. I'm a Chihuahua mommy, Romeo (age 3) and Juliet (age 1) are my Chi babies. |

| I think the chocolate they really shouldn't have is bakers chocolate. I have always given my dogs anything they want. Of course not on a daily basis. The onions is the one I didn't know about. What is the deal with onions?
