| Yikes! I do not mean to be a downer but.... Lately there have been so many posts on here of Yorkies sudden deaths and needing surgery etc, are they that unhealthy of a breed? My little Gracie is getting along GREAT but now I am starting to get paranoid! |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Just be careful and informed I would say. I always wanted a yorkie and while doing all my reading before the purchase I have to tell you I got spooked with all the what if's.

| She is my first small breed. She is NEVER unattended. We keep her in the livinng room with us or outside with us and if we can't watch her she goes into her kennel. Sounds like alot of it can't be helped! My friend Stacy has chihahaus (sp) and she has never had any trouble! |

| They don't have any more health problems than any other dog large or small. I think alot of it is breeding. Everyone just needs to be well informed.IMO.

| i read that the smaller they are the more fragile they tend to be, and they do need special attention, but i assume all dogs have problems... |

| You know what I think it is? Unfortunately we have a lot of "quicky" members. What I mean by this is that they come onto this forum to ask a quick question about their sick Yorkie because they are worried. I'm NOT saying that's not okay (I just wish they would stay) , I'm just saying maybe that's why there seems like a lot. But, most of us "YT long timers" have healthy pups.

| I am new to this forum but as you can see I have 4 yorkies. I think that you have to care for them like you would or should, your children. Keep a good eye on them since they are little dogs with big dog personalities. |
