| could he have eaten some paper? Whenever Ginger gets ahold of a roll of toilet paper, paper towels, etc...she has white, crumbly poo for a couple of days! My vet says it's harmless, so check your supply of paper! Oh yeah, once she ate some styrofoam packing (just a little, the little twirp), and she had white pebbly poo! seriously, I've never seen worms make poo crumbly, check out what he may have been eating! AND please, let us know what you find out! Good luck! |

| Daisy pooped some bright pink crumbly poop once. She had eaten half a pink crayon. Your pup probably ate something. I would call the vet just to make sure it's not a sign of something else. Penny |

| I think I would take a YUCK sample to the vet just to be on the safe side.

Good News! I will never give them a ham bone again! the vet was closed today and since it wasn't an emergency situation, they told me to save his stool and drop it off, and they will check for worms, she also said the same thing as you lacy's mom the ham bone but didn't give specifics why it did that? SO thank you all for your help on this, sami seems just fine, but I do want to make sure he doesn't have worms. thanks again everyone!! your advice and suggestions reasured me not to panic | |

| Okay - It's none of the above....... I know exactly what you are talking about. My Bichon does this every once in a while (two or three times a year - not often). His stool - is white, dry, and crumbly. It doesn't look like fresh stool at all. It is more like stool that has been laying out in the sun for several days and has dried out and turned white. I have never had a clue what has causes this. But, with him, it has always lasted only one day (I think) - and than his stool is normal again. He has never been sick with this, and since he has been doing it several times a year (for only a day or so) for years without any health problems - I've never done anything about it. I can find out almost nothing about this. A couple articles led me to believe that it is a symptom of constipation -- but my dog got over this so quickly that there was no need to alter his diet. I think more fiber and fluids help with constipitation. I also saw this information in an ad for a BARF diet. They said, it is common to see white crumbly stools from a raw fed dog --- if the dog is constipated to increase fiber -- and real pumpkin will also help reduce constipation. --------------------------------------------------------- The end result is that I would watch your dog like I did mine - and if this continues - take him to a vet. But - if like mine. it is completely gone and he is back to normal stools in a day - just keep an eye on him (and his stools). I think this is something you don't need to worry too much about. But do keep an eye on your dog's stools for a while. And go to the vet - if it continues. Good luck! Carol Jean |
