| Hello all i am a new to the site as well as new to becoming a yorkshire terrier owner. I will be getting my little girl on the seventh of this month and would just like to know the basics on caring and having a yorkie. I have bought a book about yorkshire terriers but i would like to know some things that the book doesn't say. Should I take her to the vet after she gets home due to her flying in on an airplane? Will she need any right away shots since leaving the breeders? Thanks in advance to anyone who may have some help.

| Yes you want to take her to the vet right away. Some breeders require you to take them within 48 hours of getting them so I always had my appointment made for right after I got them. The vet will look at the breeders shot schedule and give shots if they are needed. Oh and welcome to yorkietalk. You will like it here.

| Hello and good morning all, first I would like to thank the people who have replied to my post from yesterday and thank you for welcoming me to the community of yorkie talk. I have another question as well, one of the post said to make sure I have nutrical @ hand but I am unaware what that is or where to get it from. If anyone can help I would be gladly appreciated. I want the best for babe girl (my puppies name) and wouldn't want her to get sick in anyway, for she will be like a daughter to me. Thanks in advance to all and have a blessed day.

Nutrical is a high calorie supplement that gives dogs a 'pick me up' or if they're finicky eaters, it ensures they're getting nutrients in their bodies. You can get it at Petco/Petsmart or order it online from petedge.com.

| Hello thank you for your reply I will grab some of that right away. She will be about a month and one week is that ok to give to her now or wait alittle? Is there anything else from off the top of your head that you can think I may need? I have her on Eukanuba puppy since that is what the breeder is giving her, do i need to give her vitamins as well?

| Is it the same Nutrical as for people? Or is it a special dog formula. Welcom to YT strawberrycream. We'll be looking forward to pictures. How old is your little girl? |

| Congrats! Welcome! You'll love it here! I know I do! I also am having my Lil Girl flown in on the 20th, only 8 days from now! I have one girl now, Pixie. I flwe out to get her and she flew back with me! It was a long trip! The nutrical is a must have! They do get stressed when traveling, and they most likely wont eat kibble. They will lick the nutrical off your finger! Its a high calorie suppliment that will really keep them going! As far as the vet apt. Its a must do! I have one set up for the 24th for my new girl. You should have your new girl checked out ASAP! Just to be sure everything is ok with her and that her shots are up to date. Your vet will catch anything your loving new mommy eyes wont. You also need to establish a relationship with a vet in the case that you ever need on. You want to have someone you know and trust that you can go to in case of emergency. Someone that knows you and your dog, and has a record of her health history. You sound like your are going to be such an amazing Yorkie mommy! We are so happy to have you! Ask all the questions you want!

Does this mean she will be about 5 to 6 weeks old when you get her? I'm not trying to start anything here, just a queston. Suz
