| Merrick's Wet food and BONES I feed Merricks dry and wet food. Well I have found a lot of bones in the wet food because I have to break the big meaty chunks up for my girls (Smothered Comfort, Turducken, and a few more). Anyways I ended up calling Merricks and asking them about the bones because it scared me and I thought they were just being carless. Merricks said that the bones are suppose to be in there (they boil them so they're soft enough to eat and not do damage to the dog). Well I have taken the bones out every time I find one because they seem pretty hard to me. Merricks says the bones are suppose to basically crumble in your fingers. So every morning I disect my Yorkies wet food taking all the bones out because even tho Merrick's says it's 100% safe I still do not feel comfortable with my yorkies eating bones. How many of you let your Yorkies eat the bones in Merricks wet food and am I just over reacting?

| I don't feed that brand but I would do exactly what you're doing and removing the bones. It's better to be safe than sorry!

| We feed Merrick's to Winston too. The only one we found with bones is the Wingaling. We disect is before we give to him. I'm like you....no-way am I giving my baby bones. We only give him about a tablespoon of the wet food.

I think I would be changing foods. I would not want to have to go through it everytime, and I would not want to take any chances with it either.

| I don't think little pieces of bones are going to do any harm.... My pup is on a raw diet and can handle chicken necks without any problems. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I just started feeding Merricks and Trixie loves it!! I did my research before and found out about the bones already. They are mainly in the Wingding because they use whole wings so I don't feed that but I have noticed the chunks can be big and Trixie will grab a piece and take her time eating it. I think is is good to give her a variety of sizes to help her teeth. I will continue feeding the wet and gt the dry very soon.

| I am going to continue feeding Merricks because it's a really good food but I don't like the bone idea. I guess I'll just end up picking them out like I have been doing.

| I feed the Merricks with the bones...Smothered Comfort primarily...and I crush the bones up with a spoon or fork and they eat it just fine. I called both Merrick and my vet (and my old vet, just in case) and they all agree that it's OK. The bones will completely crumble in between your fingers and they say it is as safe as a puppy biscuit.

| I feed Gucci Merrick's wet food once in a while and the times I had found the bones they usually mash very easy. I always remove the ones that feel hard or big. Gucci likes it. I give it to Gucci in addition to her Canidae dry kibble. |
